Flashing Eyes

Epilogue.

Eren's POV*

I woke up, the heavy arms of Levi pinning me to his side. He had a pained expression on his face, so I decided to wake him.

I had barely even touched his shoulder when his eyes flashed open, and then settled on mine. 

"You looked like you wer-" He suffocated me in a hug. I was shocked for a moment, then eventually hugged back, shock subsiding.

"You-you were dead." His voice sounds fragile, and I try to ignore that. 

"I'm alive, Levi. We're okay." His breathing slows, and the sun finally tumbles out of the horizon, filling Levi's dull room with light. 

I'm not sure how long I sat there, assuring Levi that it was only a dream. 

He eventually came to his senses and pushed me off the bed unto the floor.  I humphed and rubbed my head, scowling at him.

"Go to your room. Erwin can't know you were in here." He rolled his eyes and scoffed at me.

I sighed and went to my room.

Omnipotent POV*

Levi sighed and ran his hands through his hair, berating his subconcious for whatever batshit it had pulled last night. He shuddered internally and mentally purged the entire collection of memory.

He bottled up his feelings and went down to the mess hall, ignoring the grease smell for the benefit of tea. He made himself a cup and sat down and sipped it, not minding the scalding heat of it. 

"Levi! I found a cure for your... er, situation." Hanji rushed into the room, brandishing heavy eye-bags, a triumphant grin, and a large syringe.

Levi looked up at her and stood up, ears twitching and tail waving idly. "I've grown partially accustomed to whatever you did to me. It also enhances my senses and all kinds of other stuff you'll want to document. Don't tell anyone you found a cure, but just keep it around for now. I'll decide whether I want to take it or not later."

Hanji blinked, surprised at Levi walked away. She hadn't expected him to turn it down, he had complaining for a while now!

Levi's real reasons, though the before were true, were not his main ones. The true reason was that he wanted, needed  to keep Eren safe. So, cat ears and a tail it would be for now.
