Eren's POV*

I woke up smiling from a pleasant dream I had, frowning when I remembered what I would be sentenced to do today. After getting dressed and everything, I walked down to eat breakfast.

I was handed a tray of tea by Hanji, who quickly spoke. "Hey, you take this up to Levi? I'd do it, but I have to run some tests."

"Uh-I-"

"Thanks!" She then skipped off merrily, leaving me to confront Mr. GrumpyMcCleanclean alone.

I walked up the stairs to his room, knocking before entering.

"Shitty glasses, if that's you-"

"Um, sir, it's Eren."

"Well, then give me my tea." I put the tray on an empty spot on his desk, before turning to leave.

"Oi, I didn't say you could leave. Shitty glasses wants you to 'watch over me' so that means she probably pitch a fit if you aren't near me."

"Oh-Sorry, sir." I sat down stiffly in one of the empty chairs in his room, feeling quite uncomfortable.

"Why'd you look like someone shoved a stick up your ass?" He was looking at me with a pointed expression. I saw his tail twitching behind him, his supremely soft looking ears held-wait. Am I fawning over Heichou?

"You awake, brat?" He looked at me, annoyed.

"Sorry, sir. I-I just-"

"God, spit it out!"

"I just feel uncomfortable watching my superior with ears and a tail!" I blurted. Partially true, but the entire truth would most likely end up with me slapped or worse.

"You don't think it's just a bit off putting for me? Also, no need to yell, I'm not deaf-well, I might be now." He scowled at me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think-"

He stood up. "No shit. I'm going to ask Hanji if she'll allow me to train, however much it annoys me she manages my life now. Are you coming?"

"I-uh-sorry." I quickly stood up, following his through the halls until reached Hanji's lab.

Hanji sat at a desk, hunched over a collection of data. Levi coughed and she turned around, her glasses glinting creepily in the sunlight.

"Oh! Morning, guys!"

"So, shitty glasses, can I train or is that against the rules too?"

"Oh, you can, just let me document your stats while you do, 'Kay?"

He huffed. "Fine." His tail swished behind him, his cute ears twitchi-WOAH, did I say cute? What the fuck, brain? Are you trying to get me slapped?

I almost missed it when Levi left the room. I was about to follow when Hanji called me back in the room.

"Eren? You know why I picked you babysit Levi, right?"

"I guess," I said noncommittally.

"It's because he cares enough for you that he most likely won't kill you by the end of the week, unlike everyone else."

I will never admitt I blushed darker than a tomato, however true it may have been.

Levi's POV*

I donned my gear and immediately went into battle mode, like typical.

Only this time, everything was in ultra-focus.

Usually, everything is in crystalline focus from above ground, but this time I could probably find a single ant on the ground from the top of tree if I needed.

What really gave me joy was when  I could see every closed up scratch I had inflicted on Hanji. She would know fucking mad I was.

As I sailed through the air, I went faster than usual, landing smoother, turning flawlessly. I had skill before, but now my skills were near supernatural. My new (unhappily) gained tail helped me to keep my balance better, my second ears keening to the sounds of the approaching ground.

"Hey, Levi!" Hanji's voice shook me out my analysis, and I missed my shot by a mere centimetre thanks to her. My new ears easily caught sound, so she basically was screaming in my ear. I rolled on the air, rotating instinctively, no training to teach me these moves.

I felt my feet touch the ground surely, and part of me realised that was an impossible jump to stick. I hadn't even rolled, I had just landed and there was no bone-shaking feeling. It filled me with a feeling of strength, knowing that I was stronger than my teammates in another way.

Hanji stood with a notepad, grinning like an idiot and writing furiously.

"Whoa..." I heard Yeager gape at my landing, and I turned to him.

"What, brat?"

"How did you do that? That landing, it wasn't like anything I've seen before."

I shrugged and walked towards the castle.

Looks like there are some pros to this whole cat thing.
