Chapter Seven

Percy Jackson

The last thing I remembered was me falling into bed, exhausted. Then it came. I could see the purple thing guide me through my worst memories. When Bianca died. When Zoe died. When I thought Leo died. When I was in Tartarus.

I couldn't control my body as I went through my mind. The purple thing starts to form a face, my face, the farther we walked through my mind. Soon I felt so numb. I couldn't think. I couldn't breathe. I could only walk farther and farther. My memories flashed before my eyes. The only thing I hear was a creepy deep voice saying, "I want everything."

I had never seen this injury or anything like it before. It was purple and black, and it almost made me throw up looking at it. Every time I touched it Percy started muttering deliriously or screaming out in pain. I was also under pressure with Nico staring over my shoulder.

After Wanda had gone into his head, her body had passed out. She had no visible injury, but she was just like Percy. I don't know what to do.

"P-Percy," I heard a voice behind me. I turned around and Wanda was trying to get up.

"What happened?" I asked her while helping her sit up.

"A m-monster," Wanda took a dead breath and stopped stuttering. "A monster or something is inside Percy and is corrupting him."

"Why did you pass out? And can you tell me more about this monster?" I asked her.

"The thing attaches me. It's not a normal disease or monster. It seemed alive. Like it has a brain. It was attaching Percy's memories and leaving some of its own."

"Were you able to see Percy?" Tony asked Wanda.

"No. He was in the back of his brain, where it's the hardest to reach. The farther Percy goes back, the more control the monster gets."

"Do you know if we can stop it?" I asked and while I was asking, Vision came running in.

"Never do that to me again," he said quietly to Wanda. Wanda hugged him but said nothing. Vision didn't notice, he just kept hugging her.

"I am sorry to interrupt, but Wanda do you know if there is a cure?" Tony asked.

"I didn't see anything, but if I had to guess, maybe if we can get the real Percy to his body and he sees someone or something that gives him a reason to fight, he can overcome the monster. He probably would be able to fight the monster, but the monster was giving me bad thoughts about myself, so it is probably telling him bad thoughts. If that person could encourage him, then maybe just maybe this will work."

"Annabeth," Nico said, and he backed up to the wall and disappeared.

"What did he just say? And where the heck did he just go?" Natasha asked.

"He did that before. I think he said Annabeth." Peter told her.

"Earlier I heard him say Annabeth. I think that's Percy's girlfriend or something like that." Natasha said, and she smiled in satisfaction of knowing what's going on.

"So maybe this Annabeth can help Percy?" Thor said.

"Let's just hope."

Annabeth Chase

I was talking with Chiron when Nico appeared out of the shadows. He grabbed my arm and right before I could protest or say anything, we were gone.

Shadow traveling sucks. That's all I'm going to say about it. It. Sucks.

When the world stopped spinning, I then got very mad at Nico.

"Nico what is it?! Me and Chiron were having an important discussion!"

"More important than Percy's life?" Nico asked, and climbed up some stairs. I was in shock for a moment after what Nico just said.

When I finally could move again, I climbed up the stairs. Now Percy getting in trouble isn't that surprising to me, but for him to get in trouble when I'm not there to help him, just made me feel terrible.

"So is this the famous Annabeth?" I heard a snarky voice, and I knew at once who it was. Loki.

"Maybe you would figure it out if you asked her," I replied, and I stepped into a room full of the famous Avengers. The room was simple if you exclude all the technology everywhere. I saw a stretcher and on it was-

Seaweed brain.

I ran towards the body. "What happened?" My shrill voice echoed around the room. Nico places a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

"A virus or monster has gotten into him. It's trying to corrupt him and take control of his mind and body," Nico told me, not sugar coating anything.

"Is there a cure?" I asked him, and I squeezed Percy's unfeeling hand to mine. "And what the Hades is on his arm?"

"It's how the monster got in, supposedly. Wanda," Nico gestured to a girl with auburn hair and playing with a flame in her fingers. "she thinks that the cure is for Percy to see someone or something he loves. Wanda thinks that maybe it will give Percy a reason to fight back the monster.

"So you got me," I summed up. All the Avengers nodded.

"We think we will be able to wake him, the real Percy, up, just for a little bit, which hopefully will be enough time for you to do your thing." A guy with black hair and glasses told me. Tony I think was his name.

"You should try giving him nectar," I advised them, and Nico nodded his head.

"We've tried that. Nothing happened,"

I sighed. "Okay, let's do this," Tony nodded his head and started typing things in on one of the many screens around him.

"He should wake up," Tony paused. "Now." When he said now, Percy opened his eyes.

"Hi Seaweed Brain. How are you feeling?" I asked him, trying to act casual. He better wake up. I could not live without Percy.

"Wise Girl? Is that you?" Percy said groggily.

"Yeah, it's me. We can only keep you awake for a little bit. You need to fight that monster in you, okay? Do it for your Wise Girl, will you?"

"I-I will t-try..." He said and his eyes closed once again. I didn't move, just focused all my energy on stopping the tears from flowing. Percy has been through so much. Can't the gods just give him a break?

When I finally controlled myself, I turned towards Tony. "What's going on now?" I asked him, and he hurriedly turned back to a computer screen.

"Nothing much. Hold on," he walked over to Percy's body and stood right across from me. He gently touched Percy's body and gently touched Percy's wound. We all held our breath. Nothing happened for one second. Two. On the fifth second, Percy sat up and smiled evilly.

"What should I do now, with this new body?"
