YOU SLOWLY OPEN your eyes, closing them again when a bright light hits you.

You release a sigh and open them again, feeling thin covers over the skin of your legs. You furrow your brows as you sit up and look around, seeing yourself in an empty hospital room.

There's still a light ache in your stomach, but it feels like it's been dulled down and you hold painkillers accountable.

You throw your legs over the side of the bed and groan as the door is opened, revealing a doctor you recognise with a clipboard behind it. You've worked with her on a case before, and she became one of your only friends outside of the BAU.

"Y/n," she begins, "How are you feeling?"

"Like I was held captive for hours." You respond sarcastically, watching her move to do a check up on you but you stop her, "Listen I don't need this, Annie."

"You need a doctor, Y/n."

"I have one," you respond with a smile, "Where is he?"

She raises her brows, "If you mean the man that hasn't left your side since you got here, he just went to make sure we were doing our job properly," She pauses, "He cares, Y/n."

You laugh, "We've known each other for years, I'd be hurt if he didn't."

She shakes her head and joins you in laughing, muttering under her breath, "Wow, you really are oblivious..."

"Oblivious to what?" You question, crossing your arms over your chest.

"Damn," she begins, monitoring your heart rate, "And you call yourself a profiler? You should be ashamed."

"Ouch."

"Im just saying, open your eyes."

"My eyes are very much open." You retort, "When can I go home, Annie?"

Before she can respond, another voice sounds from the doorway, "Y/n."

You turn your head and look at Spencer who has entered the room, his eyes set on you as he stands at the side of your bed.

"You can go home when I check that these doctors are doing their jobs."

"These doctors are very good at their jobs," Annie says with raised brows, "Y/n, I'll let you go on one condition - Mr Reid has to take you home."

"Dr Reid does not have to take me home. I am perfectly fine."

Spencer cocks his head at you before turning to Annie, "I was planning on anyway, Doctor."

"I can get myself home!" You announce, but it's as if your words go unheard.

"I figured. Make sure she gets some rest and avoid stressing her out."

"I'm right here!"

"Will do." Spencer affirms, watching as Annie leaves before looking back at you.

He sees the death glare you give him for treating you as if you are a child and presses his lips together, "Should I run?"
