Isa's last day as a cook. After breakfast, all the cooks sat together while they ate, to say goodbye to Isa. It was sweet, even though she didn't work with them for very long they were all nice to her and were sad to see her go. It wasn't like she was leaving the glade, she was going to be a runner, which meant she would be in the maze most of the day, unable to see her friends.

"What's on your mind Isa?" Fry noticed the concern spread across her face.

"Was this a mistake, me being a runner was that a bad idea?"

"Don't doubt yourself, you're made to be a runner, we all know that, some may be harder to convince than others but you, you are meant to be a runner." His gaze shifted, Isa following his eyeline. Gally, he had anger in his eyes and was looking in their direction.

"I'll be right back." Fry nodded before she got up and walked in the direction of Gally. He noticed her walking towards him and turned the other way but she picked up her pace and grabbed onto his arm.

'Hey, just listen to me for a second."
"What do you want, shank." Venom laced his voice.

"I'm not going to apologize, because I don't need to. You don't like me, that's fine, and while I still don't completely know why I'm going to deal with it, but you can't look at me like I am plotting your murder. I don't know what I did for you to hate me so much but please I am begging you to just pretend like you don't. I am new here, you are not, but we are both trapped here, together, for who knows how long, so stop with the dirty looks and the random and pointless keeper meetings and try to treat me like a person." Isa's grip on his arm had left red marks from how hard she was holding. Gally still had a hard look on his face but she could see the thought process behind his eyes.

"None of us know why we are here but one thing we do know is that for the past two years, they've sent up boys, so why now did they send up a girl? I don't hate you, even though you made a fool out of me your first night here, that was pretty impressive, but I don't hate you, I hate that you're different, I hate the idea of you."
"The idea of me?"
"Why now do they send up a girl?" Isa nodded, why did they send her up? In a group of boys.

"Truce?" She held out her hand for him to shake, there was a long pause of silence.

"Truce." He shook her hand and for the first time, the two smiled at each other. Maybe things really were turning around for her. Tomorrow she would be a runner, out in the maze, looking for a way out.
