9 | art class and a question

Miss. Aishwarya Lakshman stood with a wry face as she watched her students trickle in slowly to her class. She waited for everyone to take a seat and then was about to start when the local lecture vandals—as she liked to mentally call Harley and his crew of little devils—sauntered in.

"Welcome back to Art Appreciation. I would appreciate if from the next time we start on time. Let's have a quick recap, shall we? I am trying to reason with the Princi to let us have more than just one class a week and I am hoping that he will listen but until then we will have to make do with recaps and some good concentration, eh?"

She had joined last term and was still pretty much a newbie who was often assigned to sub for the History and English teachers. Her actual area of expertise was Art and Art History but since it wasn't a priority for the school, her classes were either taken by slackers who felt this was an easy class or those who wanted to increase their percentage by banking on a scoring class.

"Yes, June?" she smiled, relieved that someone was willing to take the initiative.

June cleared her throat and proceeded with a quick smile, "We were discussing Pliny the Elder's Natural History which talked about Greek sculpture and painting."

Jessica was hardly listening, rummaging wildly through her backpack.

"Oi, you're making a lot of noise. What's up with you?" Megan nudged her.

Jessica made a sad face, "I think I forgot my notes at home."

"It's okay. Don't make it so obvious. I didn't even take notes. Aishwarya is cool. She won't chew you out for it."

Jessica nodded and rubbed her eyes. This was the last class of the day and she wasn't just tired but really sleepy and now she had forgotten to bring her notebook where she had brainstormed some ideas last night to discuss with Aishwarya for the assignment. Great.

Aishwarya was now proceeding to tell with great gusto about what art meant to early critics with the help of a powerpoint presentation and art puns. Jessica smiled as the teacher pointed to a piece, "Now this here, I would love to buy because it is the sort of art you want to wake up to but I don't have that kind of Monet."
