"Isn't that your project partner?" Ben grinned, pointing across the cafeteria.

Jessica looked around wildly, "Where?"

"Oh God, please don't call him here," Megan groaned.

"Jacob! Jacob!"

"It's like I'm not speaking," Megan said.

"You know, maybe his problem is that he's just shy. After all, he is new here and he doesn't have a lot of friends."

Ben corrected, "More like none."

"Exactly, we should totally befriend him."

"Or," Megan said, wolfing down her sandwich, "he's just an asshole who is ignoring you at the moment."

Jessica turned around and her face fell. She got up suddenly, "I'll be back."

"I'm eating your lunch, okay?" Megan smiled.

"Do you think Jessica likes Jacob?" Ben mused.

Megan stared after Jessica, "Uh no."

"Yeah, probably not," Ben said, before stealing one of Jessica's sandwiches from Megan's fingers. "What? I am entitled to the sandwiches too."

"Get you own, little boy."

"I'm taller than you," Ben said.

"I was talking about your brain, now give me back my sandwich."

"Oi, Jacob, wait up," Jessica finally caught up to him. "Are you on the track team? Because those legs sure can walk quick."

Jacob frowned, "What?"

"Nothing, nothing," she said. "I was actually—"

"No, I haven't thought of the project but I will try to today, in case I am free, okay?" he rattled off, with an eye-roll.

"Actually, I was asking you to sit with us," she said. "At the table in the cafeteria."

He stared at her and then his eyes flickered beyond her towards Ben and Megan who were still battling for the sandwich. "Oh okay." He looked surprised for a second.

"So you want to come along?" she smiled.

"I think, I'll pass," he said, looking away.

"Okay," she nodded, "but whenever you want to, you're welcome, okay?"

He nodded before abruptly walking away.

She stared after him and then walked back slowly.

"I take it he didn't fancy our table?" Meg asked.

"Yeah," Jessica sighed and then groaned. "I should have asked him about why he doesn't reply! I'll ask him now."

Megan raised an eyebrow, "You're going to ask him why he doesn't reply by texting him?"

"Well, he doesn't pick up by calls either."

"Then you—"

"And I'm not running after him again."

I took this down for basic editing but in the end, I'm doing everything under the sun, adding new scenes, inserting new conversations and because, I don't have the time for such things I feel like I'm biting off more than I can chew but then I'm like better put in all effort than holding back, right?
