KILLIAN

"Emma!"

I see the blonde hauling ass to her car as I try to keep up. I'm weaving in and out of students and UNC faculty to get to her.

"Em! Just stop! Please!" I keep vaguely apologizing to everyone I'm running into, nearly getting hit by cars that are entering and leaving the lot multiple times. Finally I see her get to her car, drop her bag from her shoulder and begin to dig for what I can only assume are her keys.

"Damnit!" she cries out and tosses her bag to the hood of the car. She begins shaking the bag, dumping out its contents to aid in her search.

I clutch her arm and spin her around. "Emma! Please!" Her eyes press closed tight, but I can see she's still crying.

"Just go." She leans against her car and covers her face to hide from me.

I'm not going anywhere. It's been over a month and finally, I have Emma in my hands again.

"No." I grip both of her shoulders with my hands. "Emma, listen to me."

Her head shakes no as I feel her body become tense in my hands. "I can't do this right now, Killian."

"What you saw back there, Milah... we are being forced to be lab partners. We have a project for chem that we were discussing."

"I don't care."

Like hell she doesn't. She burst into tears the moment she saw her. Does she honestly think I don't know her?She cares.

"That's a fucking lie. I saw your face when you saw her."

"Killian, please..."

The biggest tears I have ever seen Emma cry fall from her bloodshot eyes, causing my heart to ache within my chest.

I scoop her face into my hands to make her look at me, but even with this she won't look me in the eye. "I'm so sorry. Em. I am so sorry! I didn't want you to find out like that! Honestly, I never wanted you to find out at all. It hurt me when I heard it and I wanted to save you from that pain. Nothing good was going to come out of you knowing... I would never, ever hurt you on purpose. You know that."

She goes limp in my hands as she hunches forward and sobs. I release her face, only for it to fall into my chest. She grips my shirt tight with fists as she cries into it.

All I want to do is take her pain away. I hate that I've done this to her.

"Emma..." I wrap my arms around her and press my lips to her temple. Her sobs are destroying me. "Please come home, Luv. I'm begging you. Let me fix this."

I hear her sniffle a few times, attempting to calm herself. I'm actually getting somewhere, she's letting me hold her. She grips my shirt a little tighter while I keep my lips on her, smelling her coconut-scented hair.

"I will always ship you, Friendly Boy," she whispers.

And before I can even tell her how madly in love with her I am she pushes my chest hard; hard enough for me to fall back and land my ass on the pavement. That gives her just enough time to grab her bag and her keys to get in the car to lock it so that I can't get in with her.

"Emma! Don't go!" I bang on the window and shake the handle. My own tears begin for the millionth time this month. "Please, Em! I ship you too! Don't leave!"

It takes her a few minutes of sobbing into the steering wheel before she finally swipes her tears with her sleeves and pulls away, leaving me in the parking lot. And of course - I can't even follow because I rode my bike today.
