Before you knew it, your feet began to drag you forwards, compelling you towards the source of the noise.
You didn't know if it was simply curiosity or the drive to see your parents, whom you hoped were still alive and breathing.
Either way, you find yourself shutting the door to the house behind you and clambering through the break in the chain-link fence that led into the building's carpark.
Your heart began to beat rapidly in your chest, pounding on your insides and making you much more shaky than you needed to be.
It wasn't that you were scared, it was more the sudden rush you had got from breaking into private property.
The empty carpark of the laboratory was bigger than your whole house and the size of it just made you want to spin around in it and make use of the space.
(Nope... oh... it's probably just me then)
Anyways, you stride towards the door and raise your arm to pull it when suddenly, a man pushes it open before you'd had a change and makes it slam into your face.
He was wearing a white coat and was drenched in sweat. He was shaking from head to toe. His glasses slipped from his face over and over but he kept trying to push them back up again, it's a shame since it wasn't really helping him.
You stumble back a bit, hands flying to your nose to check for a nose bleed and expect the man to apologise but he just keeps on running away from the lab before he eventually turns the corner and disappears from sight.
Away from the laboratory.
You are baffled by what the man did, it was very rude, but, you decide to keep going and open the door.
Damn. Your nose was bleeding.
That was when you heard the alarm blare.
It'd probably been going for a while but it seemed that someone soundproofed the walls so that only the people inside the building could hear the noise.
The noise resonated throughout the building, along with heavy footfalls that sounded like someone or some people were running away from something.
Suddenly, a crowd of frightened people in white clothing barge past you.
It wasn't your parents, just more frightened scientists.
The look on their faces make you wonder why you were actually still walking towards the same thing they were running away from.
Either way, your legs kept on moving.
The reception desk was empty and the person who was running it had long since gone. It made sense that the person who worked there would be the first to get out of the alarm went off.
You stride through the building's vast and confusing corridors until you find the lift.
(Yes I'm British, I say lift)
You press the button repeatedly, channeling your impatience into every press.
You actually managed to make a little tune with the lift button before it came to a thud and the metal doors creaked open to reveal something truly horrible.
Something that you'll probably never be able to forget.
Something that was going to turn your life upside down.
