。・゜・Chapter 10・゜・。
"At times, I'm a mystery to myself"
Taehyung rushed upstairs and into his room after yelling a quick 'goodnight' down the hallway to his brother. He then shut the door gently behind himself and shuffled over to his bed. Taehyung pulled the scrap paper out of his pocket before sitting down on the bed. He examined the page between his fingertips, tossing it carelessly from one hand to the other. He didn't wrinkle the page once, but kept looking at it from different angles.
He needed a distraction. Something to take his mind off of the situation before him. Never once had Taehyung been a bad kid. All through high school, Taehyung behaved himself. He never went to parties or snuck out with friends in an undisclosed location. Taehyung's main focus was school work and although he had a few friends they were never close enough to see each other outside of school.
The very idea of breaking an unspoken rule between his parents terrified him. After all, the consequences that followed were immense. So instead, Taehyung opted for the safer option, to remain the perfect model student that he was.
However, his parents weren't around anymore.
Taehyung and his brother were left on their own, allowing them to do whatever they please. His idea was still insane and the fact that he even composed a thought as such is nerve-wracking. This type of thinking process sprung out of nowhere and it's quite worrying. He couldn't help, but feel the familiar sense of fear that came with this thinking. He knew his tormentors were gone and yet they still had control over his life.
It was a never ending cycle of pain, despair, and overthinking his every move.
Sighing, Taehyung dropped the paper onto his bed and walked over to his desk. He leaned over the desk and looked down at the ground through the window. The distance from the window to the ground would be deadly. If he truly went through with his idea, he would need a different escape route. Turning his gaze up to the moon, Taehyung once again thought of the contents on the ripped page.
A quickly sprawled out address, 2 am, a short note which stated 'Don't be late', and the initials JK and PJ.
Other than that, the note was barren. Taehyung had little to know idea what was happening at the address. One part of him screamed, telling him he didn't need to know and he was better off staying at home. The other part of him, however, was curious. The mantra of 'what ifs' that coursed through his brain was unimaginable. A bunch of different scenarios played through his mind, all of which very enticing reasons for him to visit the address.
Rubbing his hands up and down against his forearms, he made his decision.
Kim Taehyung was going to sneak out.
--
Turns out, escaping his home was mildly simple.
All he had to do was waltz out the front door.
Of course, he was careful to not make too much noise. Taehyung avoided the places on the stairs he knew would creak and took the silent path instead. At the door, he grabbed the house key he always takes with him to school and looped it around his neck. He wasn't going to leave the door unlocked and potentially put Namjoon in danger. Taehyung grabbed his black jacket from the hanger and threw it over his frame covered in black. Taehyung also had a black mask secured over his face. He was going incognito for this adventure. He didn't know what to expect and surely didn't want to get caught.
Stepping outside in the crisp night air made him suddenly wish he was back in the comfort of his own bed. The silky sheets clasped around his body as he traced the stars outside his window. However, Taehyung was already committed to his plan, despite how much he hated himself for it.
Taehyung wanted to make it to the location before the designated time. So he decided to leave at 1 am. It would give him time to explore the area and possibly pick up information on the duo. He just hoped no one would be there before him.
Taehyung needed a method of transportation. He could always walk, but that would take precious time away that he couldn't afford to lose. Taehyung always made sure to keep his body in shape. Never once had he been weak like people assumed he was. Although his figure was smaller than the average male, he still had lean muscles. Taehyung always worked out a minimum of three times a week to stay in shape. His slim figure was thanks to the multiple workouts he's done over the years. Everybody carried muscle differently and Taehyung's body happened to mask his own.
His body was one of the biggest depictions ever and Taehyung rather liked that factor. The element of surprise was almost always there.
Taehyung looked over to his neighbor's yard. Although he and his brother never owned a bike before, it didn't mean his neighbors didn't. A bike would be the perfect option of transportation, it was small enough to hide and fast enough to get him where he needed to be.
Taehyung softly padded over to his neighbor's yard. Two bikes were sitting by their porch steps. His neighbors were a middle-aged couple who enjoyed mountain biking in their free time. They were out almost every weekend biking through a new trail in the outskirts of the city. Taehyung had never paid much attention to their neighbors before, but their equipment was helpful. He carefully pulled the smaller bike from the porch. It belonged to the woman and was the perfect size for him. It was a regular black bike with some dirt staining the sides.
Taehyung swung his legs over the bike and sat on the uncomfortable seat. He then pedaled out of the yard and onto the street before him. He would make sure to return the bike before the sun rose. Taehyung felt a little bit guilty, but tried to convince himself it was just borrowing without asking.
It totally wasn't stealing. Nope.
He had looked up the address beforehand and knew the general area of the building. The building was far from the chaos of Seoul, and as Taehyung rode on the deserted sidewalks, he let his thoughts wander. He went through various situations in his head and how he would get out of each. The occasional car passed by Taehyung as he rode down the street, casting him in a yellow glow. Wind blew in his face and threw his hair in various directions. The night was calm and Taehyung somewhat enjoyed the bike ride.
Eventually, the pavement gave way to dirt and Taehyung slowed his bike down. The area was bare, no building or houses were in sight. The only thing there was dark green trees that swayed with the wind. Taehyung shivered as he put his foot down in the rocky dirt to stop the bike. The trees' foliage was so thick that he couldn't see anything beyond them. Pulling his jacket tighter around his body Taehyung willed his legs to pedal again. He wouldn't allow fear to get the best of him, not tonight.
Taehyung slowly edged the bike forward again and rode into the trees. The moonlight barely shone through the trees, leaving Taehyung with limited light. The sound of wind was accentuated here and Taehyung's senses were heightened. He turned his head every which way no matter what the sound was. It could be the sound of a distant wolf howl or even the vague rustling of leaves and Taehyung would look.
He pedaled faster, desperate to get out of the forest and into a clearing of some sort. Asphalt was on the side of the dirt road and Taehyung quickly released that this used to be a major road. Now, however, it was nothing but dirt and overgrowth.
Taehyung spotted a dark building through the trees and sped up. After a few minutes he rode into a clearing where a huge building loomed before him. It was a two story concrete building with vines surrounding the outside. Taehyung stopped his bike in front of the building and peered around. Eventually, he saw a sign through the heavily overgrown vines.
He was standing in front of an abandoned police station.
