"Monsters are real and they look like people"

Another wolf howl sounded in the distance as Taehyung gently stashed the bike behind a pair of overgrown bushes. He made sure that the bike wasn't visible then made a big 'X' in the dirt. He wanted to make sure he could find the bike again.

Taehyung pulled his black mask higher up on his face as he turned to look at the building again. He didn't know what to expect when he walked inside and wanted to prepare himself for anything. Of course, that wasn't really possible. This wasn't like a test at school where he could study for the questions and knew all the answers. Instead, he wasn't given a study guide and has to go in using the knowledge he already had. For this situation, however, his knowledge was sparse.

Taehyung slowly crept towards the building. He wasn't sure what time it was, as he completely forgot to pack his phone, but guessing by the placement of the moon it was around 1;30 am. He walked up the old concrete stairs, occasionally stepping on vines as he did, and made it closer to the double metal doors. Wooden planks hung from the sides of the door with rusty brass nails lodged in one side. The doors had clearly been bolted closed yet it looked like someone tore them open. Taehyung felt tremors go down his spine, he had a feeling he knew exactly who was responsible for that action.

Once he reached the doors, Taehyung carefully placed both of his palms on them and gave a gentle push. The metal groaned in response and slowly opened to reveal a mess.

To say the least, the police station was in shambles.

The front desk had sprawled out papers surrounding it, some carelessly thrown on the ground while others were in the overflowing trash can. The office chair for the desk was knocked over and on its side. Glass shards were on the ground from the shattered computer. Boarded up windows surrounded the building. Little cracks between the wood allowed small amounts of moonlight to show through the dark building. Lastly, there was a gray wall divider separating the main entrance from the workspace. The wall had multiple different stains on it, some more suspicious than others.

Taehyung padded over to the desk while carefully avoiding the glass shards. Stopping in front of the desk, he leaned over and grabbed a few papers from the multiple piles. He gently shuffled the papers and skimmed over the information with mild interest. The papers contained information like reports of teen drug abuse or street fights. Nothing out of the ordinary for a police station he supposed.

He dropped the papers and let them float to the floor uninterested with the information he found. He then stepped over the papers on the floor and walked to the gray divider. He stopped right at the opening to the other section of the police station and took a deep breath. From what he could tell, no other inhabitants were in the building (humans and rodents alike). However, it was always good to be cautious, especially in an unexplored area.

Slowly he peeked past the divider and sighed at the messy area.

Desks and chairs were thrown across the floor with loose papers everywhere. The room was basically a continuation of the entrance. All the computers had holes pierced through the middle. They looked like they were each individually hit with a bat. Taehyung began to wonder why this building was abandoned in the first place. It didn't look like a building that had simply run its course. Instead it looked broken in and as if something had personally driven the inhabitants out. Either way, the place was a wreck and Taehyung didn't want to be there longer than he had to.

Stains adored almost every surface as well. All the stains contained a red undertone and Taehyung shuddered. He did not want to believe those stains were what he thought they were.

He aimlessly wandered around the area spotting a staircase in a far corner of the room. He decided to not go up there just yet or maybe not at all, it didn't seem important.

Taehyung did, however, find one thing slightly off about the room though. In the middle of the chaos was a perfectly neat desk and unbroken computer. Papers were piled in neat stacks around the computer and a blue light shone from it.

He quickly jogged over to the desk, eager to investigate the working computer. Once he reached the desk he leaned down and looked at the monitor. A progress bar was in the middle of the screen while a USB flash drive was attached to the computer. The monitor was uploading something to the flash drive and Taehyung impatiently waited for it to finish.

Taehyung scanned the rest of the visible computer with his eyes and viewed the multiple desktop folders. The amount of folders slowly dissipated as the progress bar continued moving forward. All the information was slowly getting downloaded off the computer. The computer obviously held very important data if everything was being downloaded off of it. Taehyung's hand came up to the flash drive and he grasped it tightly between his fingertips. He desperately stared at the screen, willing the information to download faster.

The progress bar was almost complete when a door opened with a loud bang. Immediately shouts and hollers followed. Rushed footsteps and loud crashing noises drowned out the earlier silence.

Taehyung's hand became clammy as he gripped onto the flash drive with more force. His gaze wavered between the computer and the gray divider as the voices became louder and louder.

The progress bar turned green and blinked off the screen signaling it was complete.

Without thinking twice, Taehyung yanked the flash drive out of the computer and dived behind the nearest knocked over table just as three people were pushed past the divider.
