Kaito couldn't wait to be back at Hope's Peak Academy. He was the Ultimate Astronaut, he was guaranteed to go to space when he graduates. He'd be lying if he said that he wasn't excited to come back to school. He really wants to accomplish his dream no matter what. As he walked through the school gates, he felt a huge sense of unusual relief and familiarity. He spotted a variety of classmates, some old, some new. So many talents and hopes for the future. This felt like a second home to Kaito because he interacted with students that were like him, an Ultimate.

Well.....almost all....

"Kaito!"

Kaito snapped out of his daydreaming as he heard his name being called out. He scanned the crowd of students, searching for the origin of the voice. His smile widened as he spotted two incredibly familiar faces. Kaede Akamatsu, the Ultimate Pianist, and Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective.

"Hey you two! Good to see ya!" Kaito smiled as the two ran up to him.

"It's good to see you too. You've been well I'm assuming?" Kaede smiled, giving Kaito a quick hug.

"Of course! The Luminary of the Stars is hardly ever down!" Kaito grinned, releasing his friend. He put on a mischievous grin as he eyed at the two in front of him. "What about you two? You been on a date yet or what?"

"Wha-hey!" Kaede shouted, her face turning a deep shade of pink.

"No!" Shuichi protested, the colour of his face matching Kaede's. Kaito couldn't hold back a laugh as he saw the state that his friends were in. It seemed quite obvious that they liked each other. Despite the laughter, Kaito couldn't help, but sense some tension between him and his best friend. He wasn't surprised really. Leading up to the festival the previous academic year, Kaito had been skittish about keeping his secrets safe. And Shuichi had undeniably suspicious as to what was going on. Kaito wanted to tell Shuichi what had been going on, but he kept chickening out. He didn't want to make things more complicated by sharing his secrets. Not yet anyway...

After a few minutes of catching up, with Kaede trying to ease the tension that she felt in the group, Kaito happened to look towards the school roof. He recalled not seeing one particular person yet. The person that he truly wanted to see more than anything right at this moment.

"Mind if I catch up with you guys later? There's something I wanna check on." Kaito quickly excused himself, hefting his bag a little more on his shoulder.

"Sure. We'll see you later." Kaede smiled as Shuichi silently nodded. It was clear that the apprentice detective wasn't too thrilled with Kaito disappearing again, but he didn't protest at this point. Kaito took this opportunity to run off, immediately heading up a staircase. He knew where he was going. On the school roof was the gardens. Not many students go up there as there haven't been that many to do with gardening or botany. However, there was one person that Kaito knew was already up there. Kaito had been there onto a few times, but he hoped to spend more time up there. He went up there to request and pick up roses for the festival. He had almost forgotten what the garden had looked like since he hadn't been there for so long.

Kaito opened the door slowly. He couldn't hold back a smile as he spotted a girl with long dark brown hair held back by two scrunchies. She was busy tending to some plants that were left in the care of the school over the summer. Kaito barely heard her humming to herself from where he stood. He couldn't hold back a smile as he saw her.
