I am so sorry that this took so long. I think I've gotten over the writer's block a little bit. Don't know how long it'll last, but I'll try to take full advantage of not having it while I can.
And I've finally decided to give Kaito's grandparents names. I was starting to get bored of them not have it any, especially since they're going to be in the story for a while.

The house never felt this tense in Kaito's life. The second he was let in, he knew that he going to be in a lot of trouble. He tried not to focus on that. All he could focus on was Maki. She had been taken to the guest room. She was still shivering from the blood loss and had several blankets and some pillows surrounding her to keep her warm. She was still pale and er breathing was shallow. She looked almost more dead than alive. She looked so fragile that she might as well be made of glass or fine china. The bleeding from her neck had finally stopped, and Kaito could barely smell the scent of it, much to his relief. The whispers were aintly coming back to him, but he ignored them. He didn't want to take her blood ever again. This was all his fault. Why couldn't he stop himself?!
Kaito stood in the corner of the small bedroom, looking back and forth between Maki, who was being taken care of by his grandmother, Yuuta Momota, and the ground in shame. The second Maki was laid on the bed, Yuuta worked hard to properly treat and redress the wound with fresh bandages. The second she saw the bite on the assassin's neck, she sent Kaito a hard stare, silently warning him about how much trouble he was in.
"I don't know what was going through that head of yours, but you're lucky that she's still alive." Yuuta scolded, turning to look at Kaito. "What were you thinking?"
"I'm sorry." Kaito found himself automatically replying. But he wasn't thinking. He was still hating himself for what he had done. He kept going back in his head that this was all his fault.
"Sorry won't help, Kaito. You knew better than this!" Yuuta snapped, her voice holding so much authority that she seemed to be like a completely different person. Kaito bit the inside of his cheek nervously as he realised that his grave seemed to have become deeper. And he hasn't even spoken to his grandfather yet. The old man had seen Maki and quickly pieced together what had happened. He had been deathly silent during the whole thing and hadn't come up to see Kaito yet. That probably wasn't a good sign. He hasn't even shown the bloodstains on his shirt. He kept his jacket zipped up and planned to tell his family what had happened once Maki was out of the danger zone and he could speak to both of the elders. Hopefully once he explains the situation, maybe they'll understand a little more.
"Kaito..."
A quiet, weak voice suddenly seemed to stop the tension for a moment. Kaito immediately looked at the bed. Maki's face was creased with worry lines. She was still asleep. Was she dreaming and calling out for Kaito in that dream?
"Kaito...Kaito..." Maki continued to whisper, slowly looking more distressed. Kaito gently approached the bed, Yuuta stepping back a little. He caused this, so he was quite unsure if he should be this close to her yet. Nonetheless he wanted to try to make her comfortable.
"I'm here. I'm here." Kaito whispered, gently brushing loose strands of hair from Maki's face. Maki subconsciously leaned into his touch and looked a little more relaxed. Yuuta watched curiously, wondering why the human was so comfortable with Kaito after what he had done. Was something going on that she and her husband didn't know about?
"Kaito." An old man's voice suddenly and sternly spoke. Kaito grimaced as he knew that tone of voice. He turned to see his grandfather standing in the doorway. He felt a chill go through him as Kenzo Momota's face looked as dark as thunder. "We need to talk." Kenzo didn't give his grandson a chance to answer as he disappeared to downstairs. Kaito dreaded going down there, he can't remember seeing his grandfather looking so angry. And he was hesitant to leave Maki. He trusts his grandmother, but he wants to be there when she wakes up.
