It's Christmas morning.  Willow and her mother sat on a green velvet couch in the huge living room, wrapping paper littering the floors.  Christmas morning is usually a very happy day for families.  Joy, excitement and candy canes filling the warm family room.  That was not the case for the Evergreen family.

Ever since Isabella was murdered two years ago, holidays haven't been fun for the family.  Before her death, Isabella was all about parties and family time.  They had countless traditions,  and holidays were Willow's favourite time of the year.  Now they just reminded her that Isabella was no longer there to celebrate.

This Christmas morning was no different, and to make matters worse, Willow's father had an important work conference, so he couldn't be there with his family.

"Willow, I know today is a hard day, but it's Christmas.  Don't you want to do something fun?"  Her mother asked.

"No."

"Letter for you, Willow,"  Willow's mum called.

Willow had been lying in bed all day.  Christmas sucked.  She slowly pulled her covers off and walked out of her room, heading down the long spiral staircase.

"Thanks," She muttered, taking the letter out of her mother's hands.  They hadn't spoken much today besides thanking each other for gifts.  They both understood how the other was feeling, so no one took anything personal.

Willow was surprised when she saw that the letter was signed "Ron Weasley".  She went to take a seat on a fluffy grey chair, and began to read.

Dear Willow,

Happy Christmas!  I hope you're having a good holiday.  I wanted to invite you to spend a few days at my house.  Harry, Hermione and Lavender are coming down tomorrow, the 26th.  I don't know when this letter will get to you, so feel free to come later if you'd like.  I want to see you, and I think my family would love you.  Don't bother sending a letter back, just come.

Ron

Willow couldn't stop the grin that spread on her face.

Willow arrived at the burrow at exactly 12pm.  It would be easier to say it took a lot of time and thinking to decide whether she should go or not, but honestly, the answer was clear to her.

Seeing Ron and Lavender kiss that day broke Willow's heart.  She cried enough tears to fill the black lake, but eventually she pulled herself together.  Her and Ron were never really a thing.  She had no right to be mad at him.

Ron and Lavender moved very fast.  Within the week before Christmas holiday, they quickly developed the label of boyfriend and girlfriend.  Seeing them together stabbed Willow in the heart over and over again, but Ron was happy, and that was all that mattered.

"Hi dear, so nice to meet you,"  Ron's mum, Molly went in for a hug right away.  She smelled like fresh cookies, and radiated sunshine.

"Hi, you too.  Thank you so much for having me," Willow said, smiling at her.

Walking into the home, Willow's heart beat way too fast.  Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

That was proven wrong when she spotted Ron.  Ron and his bright red hair.  Ron and his perfect little freckles.  Ron and his smile that made Willow feel like everything was okay.

Ron and Lavender.

"Willow! You came!"  The pure joy on Ron's face was enough to prove to Willow that she made the right choice.
