Travis
I steered clear from the cafeteria, not wanting to throw up. I really don't get why they call it lunch time when all they serve is cardboard. I heard some kind of disturbance around the corner. I got out my dagger in case it was some kind of monster. There weren't a lot of mortals around so not too many people would see the fight. I got my phone out in case it was something I couldn't kill on my own and I had to call Katie.
Fortunately for me, it wasn't a monster. It wasn't so fortunate for the kid being cornered by some bullies though. He was surrounded by four guys, all at least a head taller and clearly older than him. I knew at least two of them were on the football team, judging by the traces of green in their hair. Their leader forced the smaller boy against the wall. "You shouldn't have done that," he said. The kid was clearly scared out of his mind. I put my knife away, scared I would stab the bully if I got the chance. "I-I didn't do anything," the kid stammered. His attackers seemed to find his answer hilarious for some reason.
"Hey! Nock it off," I told them. They switched their attention to me now. "And why should be we do that? What are you going to do, snitch on us?" I almost laughed at the ridiculousness of that option. But I figured that was probably not a smart move right now. I gestured for the kid to get behind me, a chance he gladly took. "I'm not gonna snitch, but you can count on it that you'll get what you deserve. Unless you can't count of course." He laughed at me. "You seriously think some nobody like you is going to stop us? I don't even know who you are," the bully said and he walked away. "You will," I whispered, chuckling to myself, finding it unfortunate that I couldn't move objects with my mind. (A/N: reference y'all) Even so, I had my own magic. That bully, I'll call him Thanos because why not, was going to get what he deserved.
"You okay?" I asked the boy. He nodded. "Yeah, I'm used to it." He looked at his watch. "Oh I have to get to class, but thanks for helping me out." He started to walk away. "Hey kid wait." He turned back. "I'm not that much younger than you, you don't have to call me kid." I ignored his suggestion and opened up my backpack. "Here," I said, taking out a zapper and holding it out for him. "You're giving me a taser?" He asked, eyes wide. "It's not a taser," I told him. Okay it kinda was. "It's a zapper, much less likely to kill someone. Try not to use it on people with a hearth condition though. But it's perfect for scaring of stupid bullies." He took the taser, I mean zapper, from me. "Thanks," he said. The bell rang. I needed to get to class. "Just don't tell anyone where you got it," I told him. I rushed to class and prayed to the gods the kid wouldn't tell on me. I was already going to be on thin ice after I'd dealt with Thanos.
Whoosh
I had absolutely no ideas. None. That never happens. I started on dozens of plans before crossing them out again. This went on for quite a while. I was in the middle of banging my head against my desk when Connor came into my room. "Dude, can you cut it out? I'm trying to sleep and it's not going to happen if you keep doing that." I lifted my head to look at him. "Well I'm trying to come up with an amazing idea, but I'm stumped. So looks like we're both not getting what we want." He rolled his eyes at me. "What I want is for you to be quiet. Is that so hard?" "Yes, because silence is not a good environment for epiphanies." I began banging my head against the desk again. Connor sighed. "Look, as much as it amuses me to see you like this, I don't want to have to survive on coffee tomorrow. Surely it's not that important that you have to stay up all night. Just do it tomorrow," he said. "Not important?" I yelled in dramatic fashion. "Not important? I thought you took pranking seriously. How can you betray us like that over something as meaningless as sleep?" My WAAAAA didn't seem to change his mind about getting to sleep. "Who is we? Please tell me you don't have voices in your head." Now I was the one to roll my eyes. "The league of tricksters and pranksters of course." "That actually exists?" he scoffed. "At least they take it seriously. Unlike some people." He rolled his eyes again. "You know I'm very serious about it. But that doesn't mean I want to be working on some stupid prank you only want to do to get Katie's attention at 3 am." I frowned "What does she have to do with this?" "Travis I really don't feel like talking about you being in denial about your feelings right now. I just want to go to bed." Connor walked out again, but when he saw I was still glaring at him he stopped in the doorway. "Sleep tight," he said, with emphasis on sleep. But I was determined to have at least part of a plan before going to sleep.
Somewhere around ridiculous plan number 27 I must have fallen asleep, because I wasn't awake anymore when Connor was calling for me the next morning. "Travis! Get your butt out of bed! We're going to be late!" He screamed at me. When I didn't react, I heard him storm into my room. He pulled the sheets I was laying on from under me, making me fall out of bed. I groaned and threw a pillow at him. "Did you have to do that?" Connor intercepted the pillow before it could hit him. He smirked. "No, but it was fun. And great payback for last night. Now get up, we need to get going." Connor left and I got ready as fast as I could. It would be dumb if I got in trouble for something stupid like being late.
I was about to open the door when Chiron appeared before me. Not in person of course, he was sending an Iris message. "Chiron, I don't really have time right now. I'm late for school," I told him. "Don't worry, this won't take long. I need to talk to you and Katie, so I would appreciate it if you two messaged me back as soon as possible. That was all, you can go now. I wouldn't want to stand in the way of your education," he said and a second later the connection was already broken. I rushed outside. On my way to school I wondered why Chiron would need to talk to us both.
