First of all, I have no clue what happens at a dance or how it works exactly, so I'm purely basing this all off of my knowledge from books and tv-shows. Hope you guys like it!

PS: There's only one part left after this, so you don't have to wait much longer.

Katie

Brian came to pick me up at my house. I'd assured him it wasn't necessary, but he insisted. I'd just finished getting ready when the doorbell rang. I told my dad I'd get it. I didn't want him to embarrass me yet, remembering what had happened when Travis was here. I then scolded myself for comparing the two, since Travis and I weren't like that. We were frenemies at best. And that was when I wasn't to busy cursing at him.

I opened the door to see Brian smiling at me. He was wearing a dark blue tuxedo, which seemed to be a little too big, but he looked great anyway. "You look really nice Katie," he told me. I smiled a little uncomfortably at the compliment. It all seemed so forced. "Uhm thanks. You look good too." Awkward silence ensued. I was fiddling with my hands a bit until I called "Dad, I'm leaving! I'll be back soon! Love you!" to let him know we were going. "Love you too Katie!" he called back from somewhere in the house. I was kind of glad he didn't come to meet Brian. It was already awkward enough without my dad asking all sorts of questions. Not that I regretted saying yes when Brian asked me to the dance, I was sure we'd just gotten of on a rocky start. I was confident we were going to have fun together.

Godsss how awkward is this? I'm literally cringing writing it. It's a good thing they're not the ones I'm writing a story about  because no one would want to read it and I wouldn't want to write it. Anyways, sorry to disturb your reading with my little rant. Bye!

When we got in the car, the silence wasn't so bad anymore. Brian had turned on the radio and I was looking out the window, admiring the little pieces of nature we passed. I bit my lip to avoid a smile when 'Single Ladies' came on, imagining Travis dancing along enthusiastically. Before I knew it, we'd arrived. I told myself to stop daydreaming and focus on Brian. He was the one who was my date after all. Not anyone else and especially not Travis.

The room looked like Percy had had a say in the decoration. Clearly whoever was in charge shared his love for the color blue, because I didn't see a single decoration that wasn't a shade of it. There were already a lot of people there, but no one was dancing yet. Brian and I went to sit on one of the tables on the side of the room. We talked for a while and then he stood up to get some punch. "Do you want any?" he asked. "No, I'm good." I wasn't thirsty and I wasn't going to drink some crappy punch just for the sake of it.

I heard a gasp from behind me and turned to see Travis. He laid his hand on his chest in concern. "Katie-Kat are you okay?" I frowned. "Of course I'm okay. Why would you think I wasn't?" "Your dress is red, and the only reason for that I can come up with is that you're heavily injured and bleeding so much it turned your dress red," he argued. I rolled my eyes. "Or maybe I just bought it like this?" He thought it over a bit and then shook his head. "No, I'm pretty sure my theory is right. Seeing as you never wear red." I raised my eyebrows at his observation. "Why do you know what I wear? Am I that interesting to you?" I smirked at his speechless expression. After failing to come up with a response, he stood up. "Well if you're not going to be any fun than I might as well go. Lots of people to prank. Bye Katie-Kat." He smirked and disappeared into the crowd, right when Brian came back with the punch in his hand. I ignored the feeling in my stomach Travis had left behind.

When Brian sat down, I was glad to see my friends approach us from behind him. At least that way we could avoid the long silences until it was time to dance. But it was still early so the middle of the room was pretty much empty. My friends and their dates sat down at our table. Eve was the most excited because Tyler had asked her to the dance and she'd been crushing on him for as long as I could remember. I was glad to see her so happy, practically bouncing in her seat. We discussed all sorts of things and the time flew with them next to me.

Whoosh

The current song ended. "Let's go dance," Amber proposed. Before I could answer she'd already pulled me from my seat. The DJ now played 'Dynamite' from BTS. Somewhere I heard Travis yelling "That's my song!" I smiled, shaking my head at his obsession with blowing things up. It was definitely his favorite thing in the world. Amber dragged me to the middle of the dance floor where a lot of people were already gathered around some guy breakdancing. He was doing great, but was replaced a little later by a guy trying to stand on his head and failing miserably. From then on, a lot of different people went in the circle the bystanders had formed. They all did the weirdest dance-moves I'd ever seen and I was surprised by the lack of embarrassment they showed. Since when were teenagers so care-free?

I only grew really suspicious when Amber nudged me. "I'm gonna do cartwheels." She ran into the circle. I frowned. I'd never even seen her do cartwheels and now she was going to do them in front of the whole school? Something was definitely off. As if he was called by the disturbance, Travis showed up from out of nowhere, noticing my worried face. "Something wrong Katie-Kat?" he asked. "I don't know. Everyone is just acting a little strange." He had a mischievous smile on his face. "That might be a little bit my fault. I made the punch a little more fun." I smacked his arm. "Travis please tell me you didn't get everyone drunk." "Not everyone. Some people took care of that all on their own." He nodded to a group of girls failing to be subtle about the flask one of them was holding. None of the teachers noticed though. They were too busy chatting.

"Besides, it wasn't even real alcohol," Travis said. I raised my eyebrows at him. Did he really think I was going to believe that? "Then why is everyone waisted?" "I didn't put any real alcohol in there, just some that me and Connor perfected." My eyes widened. "You made an entire school drink from some concoction you and your brother made up? That's even worse!" I smacked his arm again. He pulled a pained face. "Can you please stop doing that. I think I have bruise." I glared at him. "Oh relax, we tested it plenty of times. It's completely safe. And at least it doesn't make people all violent, because no one wants that at their party. Anyway, before I say something that will make you even more mad, I'm out of here. Bye Kates!" He disappeared before I could stop him, leaving me once again reluctantly impressed by his scheming. I turned to go stop Amber from embarrassing herself.
