"...Can I have a lawyer? Or something?" Ryan Wheeler asked nervously. "I can't be here!"
"You're not leaving until you answer our questions. All of them," Rosa said.
"No, please , you really don't understand," Ryan pleaded. "I can't be here. I can't. If Harvard or Yale found out, they'd-they'd-"
"Calm down, Wheeler," Rosa said. "Get yourself together."
"C'mon, my whole future could be destroyed by this," Ryan said. "You've got to understand-"
"Sorry, Wheeler. I don't have much sympathy for rich kids," Rosa said.
"I'm not rich," Ryan said, seeming confused. "My parents are teachers. We do okay, but-"
"So you're saying you're not rich," Rosa said.
"No, not at all," Ryan replied.
"Than where the Hell did you get that Rolex?" Rosa asked, pointing to the boy's expensive watch. "I hear you have quite the collection."
"Uh...it was a gift," Ryan said nervously.
"Oh really?" Amy said, butting in. "So that Bentley you drive to school in everyday is a gift too?"
"...Yeah," Ryan said hesitantly. "It's... uh...from my grandpa."
" Oh really?" Amy asked. "You don't sound so sure..."
"I'm sure," Ryan said.
"So if we look into your grampy's financial statements, we're going to find that beautiful car of yours?" Amy asked.
The detectives were met with silence.
"That's what I thought."
Now Wheeler was really starting to sweat. "I shouldn't even be here," he insisted. "You think I run a drug ring?! I don't even do drugs. If I was caught Harvard would never look at me."
Amy and Rosa exchanged frustrated glances. They were getting nowhere.
"I took a law class at the community college," Ryan said. "I know you can't hold me here forever. Not without any evidence. And at this point, I'm pretty sure you don't have any."
Rosa looked over at Amy and sighed. "We'll be back, Wheeler."
Rosa and Amy walked out of the interrogation room and watched Ryan through the two-way mirror. Ryan was just twiddling his thumbs nervously, running his hand through thick blonde hair.
"He's good," Amy noted. "He really knows what he's doing."
"He's hiding something," Rosa said. "Just look at him." Wheeler was wiping the sweat off of his face with a tissue.
"I know," Amy sighed. "He's definitely involved. I don't know how he is, but...all I know is he's got a secret and he's too smart to let it slip."
Rosa scowled. "I'm really starting to hate this kid."
"You've got to admire his intelligence, though," Amy said. "I can't believe he has a 4.5 GPA. I mean, that's unheard of!"
"He's a nerd," Rosa deadpanned.
Amy frowned. "He is not a nerd," Amy pouted. "Just because you have a great relationship with your teachers and care about your grades doesn't mean-"
"-He's a nerd."
"...A kind of cute nerd," Amy said shyly.
Rosa just gave Amy a look. "Gross. You could be his mom."
