"Jake! You're here!" Charles shouted as soon as he saw Jake walking into the squad room. He immediately ran up to Jake and enveloped him in a huge hug.

"...Uh, Charles?"

"Yeah buddy?"

"Not that this isn't nice, but...I'm kinda here every day," Jake said.

"Yeah, I know," Charles said bashfully. "It's just...I just missed you a lot while you were away at undercover work."

"Okay Charles, first of all, don't tell people I was 'away at undercover work' " Jake said. "It makes it sound like I went to summer camp. If you're gonna say anything, tell people I was going undercover in the mafia underworld like Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed. Or..like Serpico. Like, anything other than what you just said."

"Yeah, that definitely sounds much cooler, you're so right. Serpico...DiCaprio...got it."

"And second of all," Jake continued, "Well, I'd like to thank you for being a great friend and being there for me when I got back."

"Anytime, buddy," Charles gushed. "It was nothing really."

"You know, sometimes people like me, you know, outsiders, guys who live on the edge...it's a lonely life out there for guys like us, Boyle. And by guys like us, I mean me. So thanks for being there for me and having my back."

"Happy to do it, Jakey," Charles said with an enormous grin. Amy smiled at Charles and then proceeded to roll her eyes dramatically at Jake. Jake gave her a look that was meant to be mocking, but it only succeeded in making her laugh.

"Detective Peralta," Holt called from his office.

"Yeah captain?"

"Might I have a word with you in private?"

"I don't know if you might, but you can!" Jake said, grinning to himself and thrusting a high-five in Charles' direction.

Charles just gave him a pitying look and shook his head.

"What, no high-five?" Jake asked dejectedly.

"...I'm sorry Jake, you know I usually do, but...I just can't reward that kind of grammar. It's simply atrocious."

"Yeah, did you like, even go to high school?" Gina asked.

"Yeah I went to high school Gina, you were there!" Jake exclaimed.

"I was?..Nope, sorry Jake. I really don't remember that."

"...What?! But we were in the same chemistry class together! We sat across from each other at graduation!"

"...Sorry, doesn't ring a bell."

"You were there when Kyle Hanson shoved me in a locker and kept me there for three hours," Jake said.

"...Ohhhhhhhh yeah, that's right, it's all coming back to me now," Gina said. "That was really mean of him. How come nobody helped you?"

"Um, because you were the only one there, and you were too busy fixing your hair in the mirror to do anything. You know, like saving your friend from three hours of being stuck next to a dirty gym bag?"

"Hmm...well that does sound like me," Gina said. "Was this in the 10th grade? Because my hair was fiiiiiiiine in sophomore year. Really, everybody would always come up to me and say 'Gina, how do you get your hair to stay so soft and vibrant, with just the right amount of shine?' And I would say-"

"Peralta!" Holt called frustratedly from his office. "There will be plenty of time for idle conversation later. Right now I need you in my office."

"Yes sir," Jake muttered. "Coming, your majesty..."

Jake quickly walked into Holt's office and gave him a joking salute.

"Detective Peralta, reporting for duty!" he exclaimed, still saluting the captiain, who was obviously not amused.

"Please, take a seat," Holt said politely, gesturing towards the empty chair across from him.

"Already on it, sir!" Jake said, plopping himself down on the chair. He didn't need to be asked twice.

Detective Holt fixed his jacket and took a deep breath. "Detective Peralta," he began in his typical gruff voice. "First of all, I would like to personally congratulate you on the success of your undercover operation. I must say, I was quite impressed."

"Well thank you, captain," Jake said, attempting to seem mature for a moment. He couldn't stop the childish grin from spreading across his face, though.

"Yes, well, anyway," the captain continued. "In light of your recent undercover success, the bureau would like you to perform another undercover operation in the following weeks."

Jake's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "Again? I don't know captain, it was fun and all, but..."

"...But?" Holt urged.

"...But I kinda started to miss the Nine-Nine," Jake admitted. "I don't know if I could go another six months without these guys."

"What if I told you that you wouldn't have to?" Holt asked.

"What are you talking about?" Jake asked.

"What if I told you that Santiago, Boyle, Diaz, Jeffords, and myself were also going on this investigation with you?"

"Well, chief, now you're talking."

"I'm glad to hear that you're interested," Holt said.

"...I still don't know, Captain," Jake said. "Going undercover was really stressful. I don't think I could do it all over again right now."

"I assure you, Peralta, this assignment is nothing like that one."

"Okay, you got me sarge. I'm interested," Jake said. "Now what exactly does this assignment entail?"

"You will be going undercover at a nearby high school to infiltrate a dangerous drug ring. The dealers are selling a new designer drug, similar to Giggle Pig but more dangerous, that has already sent several young men to the hospital. We need to stop these dealers from manufacturing and selling their product before more innocent teenagers are killed. Do you understand, Peralta?"

"High school? Sweet! You mean this is going to be like 21 Jump Street?"

"Absolutely not, Peralta."

"How's it any different?"

"Well, for starters, this is not a movie. And if you screw up there will be major consequences..."

"Yeah yeah you'll fire me blah blah blah," Jake said dismissively. "Come on now, we both know you'd never do that! You love me!"

"This isn't a joke, Peralta," Holt said. "And it certainly isn't just some excuse for you to relive your childhood. I need you to be on your game, do you understand me?"

"...Yes, Captain," Jake sighed. "So...what exactly am I going undercover as? The badass principal, right?"

Jake thought he detected some sort of a smirk on Holt's lips.

"You'll see, Peralta. You'll see."
