I hold on to Matteo's shirt with my dear life. We are practically sprinting and I am in heels. I can start to see the lights from the Moon Tower coming into view. I can see Shay pacing the top of it.
When we get close enough Matteo stops running. "I am going to head back to our house. If Mom and Dad ask I will tell them you went to sleep and we shouldn't wake you because of nightmares. You have the night. Don't do anything stupid."
"Thank you, Matteo." I hug Matteo quickly.
I turn around and walk over to Shay. I look and see that he hasn't noticed me yet.
I awkwardly walk up behind him not knowing what to say. Before I can come up with anything a twig snaps beneath my foot. Shay hears it and turns around.
"I was starting to worry you weren't coming."
"I'm here now."
"Come on up." Shay helps me up so that way I'm on the top part with him.
When I am up we both stand there awkwardly.
"I-" we both start talking.
"Sorry, you go." We both say at the same time.
"I'll go first," I say before he can, "I'm sorry for yelling at you."
"It's okay. I was the one who yelled first. I am sorry for dating Emily. It wasn't right. Even if I was jealous I shouldn't have done that."
"It's okay. I forgive you."
"Friends?"
"Friends."
We lay down and stargaze together. I cool breeze blows by and I shiver. All I have on is the short, spaghetti strap dress. Shay is quick to take off his sweatshirt and give it to me. To my surprise, he is wearing nothing underneath it. I grab his sweatshirt out of his hands but I am only staring at his defined abs and chest.
"Are you going to put it on?" Shay says as he puts two fingers below my chin and tilts my head up away from his muscles.
"Right yeah." I put his sweatshirt on and it smells just like him. It smells loamy, woodsy, and it has the faintest scent of cologne.
"Ready to walk home?" I nod my head yes. Before I can start walking through Shay grabs me and tosses me over his shoulder.
"Hey, woah. What are you doing?" I say surprised by the sudden action. I wrap my arms around his stomach to make sure I don't fall. My hand rests on top of his abs. I feel the urge to trace his abs but resist it. We are just friends. Shay just laughs and keeps walking.
Eventually, Shay adjusts me so that way my legs are wrapped around his waist and hands around his neck. My house starts to come into view and I get a little upset. I don't want Shay to leave yet.
When we are next to my house, below my window, Shay sets me down. We don't say anything for a moment. I look into his grey eyes and he stares back at me. Shay reaches up and puts his hand on my cheek. I lean into the touch. He leans in until our foreheads touch.
"Ivy?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm ready to be more than friends when you are." I gasp. I can't help but show the surprise on my face. Shay chuckles at me.
"O-okay." Shay smiles before removing his hand from my cheek and turning to walk away. I watch as he goes, "Wait. Shay?"
"Yes, Ivy?"
"Can you sleep with me?"
"Woah. Ivy normally friends don't do that." Shay laughs at me.
"Not like that. Can you just lay with me until I fall asleep? I've had nightmares ever since...well you know." I bite my lip waiting on his answer.
"Of course." I smile and bounce up and down like a child.
I start to climb up to my window with Shay right behind me. I head over and get into bed. When I look over Shay is right next to me getting under the covers. Still shirtless.
I lay my head on Shay's chest. He wraps a strong arm around me. As I close my eyes and drift off to sleep I trace the outline of Shay's abs, giving in to the urge.
Shay kisses the top of my head, "Goodnight, Ivy."
"Goodnight Shay."
I quickly drift off to sleep surrounded by Shays warmth.

When I wake up in the morning Shay is gone. No surprise because Dad would literally kill Shay if he was in my bed.
I get out of bed happier than normal. I skip downstairs and make breakfast for everyone. I make pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, and eggs. I went all out for everyone. I set the table and everything.
Dad is the first one downstairs, "What's that smell?" Dad turns the corner into the kitchen and sees me flipping the pancakes.
"I made breakfast!" I smile brightly at Dad.
"You're in a suspiciously good mood," Dad says as he studied my face trying to read me.
"I'm just happy to be sixteen! Oh! Can you take me to get my license later?" I bounce up and down at the idea.
"Sweetie you know I can just make you a license. You don't need to take a test."
Oh yeah. I kinda forgot. "Well, then can you do that?" I flip the next round of pancakes.
"Of course."
Mom and Angelina walk in next, "Good morning." They say in unison.
Shortly after Mom and Angelina, Matteo walks downstairs. He looks exhausted. "Morning." I hope he didn't stay up waiting for me to get home.
"I made breakfast. There are pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, and coffee."
"Thank Ivory."
We all sit down and eat together. After dinner, Mom helps me clean up. When everyone has left and it's just Mom and I in the kitchen Mom starts talking to me, "You seem really happy this morning."
"Yup, I'm just happy to be sixteen I guess." I smile and try to sound convincing.
"The Orlovs are coming over for barbecue night. You could have just had Shay stay. He didn't need to leave so early this morning." Mom finishes drying the plate and puts it away. She walks out of the kitchen leaving me alone in shock.
