Matteo's Eyes

Chapter 9

I am taken to a private airport. I don't fight anyone and I don't listen to anyone. I just sit down in my seat and listen to music.

"Ivo-" Linus tries to talk to me.

"Go away." I turn and stare out the window.

Shays POV:

As I am getting ready with Alina before school I talk to her about Ivy and her new boyfriend, "What's up with Linus and Ivy?"

"What do you mean? They are dating."

"I know but didn't she hate him?"

"Yeah, I guess she had a change of heart." Alina shrugs.

"I think something is up. It doesn't make sense. She starts dating a guy she used to hate and then she is all of a sudden on a vacation with him? I don't get it."

"Are you jealous Shay?"

I scoff, "No of course not."

"Oh my gosh! You like Ivory!" Alina yells.

"No, I don't." I lightly push Alina away from me and walk outside to wait for Matteo.

"You just think something is up because you're jealous. She fine trust me." I decide to believe my sister that Ivy is fine.

I ride home from school with Matteo as always. I go to his house because we are having a welcome home party for Ivory. I'm not excited to hear about her vacation with her boyfriend.

I walk into my mom, Mrs. Lombardi, and Lauren all setting up streamers and balloons for Ivory. Sometimes I think they do big things like this for Ivory because she is the only child that doesn't get a mafia to run. They may think not having a mafia is bad but I would love to not have to worry about running a mafia. My dad is always yelling at me to be second in command. I don't want to though. At least not to Angelina. Matteo won't choose me because he knows I don't want it but Angelina is so in love with me she will choose me even if I don't want it.

I sit in the corner away from everyone. I scroll through my messages on my phone responding to a couple of the annoying girls that constantly text me. One thing I have grown to like about Ivy is that she doesn't throw herself at me and she doesn't have a crush on me like most girls. I don't mean that in a cocky way but when almost every girl I meet flirts with me or asks if I'm single and then stalks me on Instagram, I'm pretty sure that means they like me.

One hour goes by, then another, then a day, then a week. Ivory still hasn't returned home. Mr. Lombardi starts to panic and starts searching for her. Mrs. Lombardi tries to track Ivy's phone. Everyone is in panic mode.

Everyone except for Alina, Gia, and Lauren sit in the meeting room and brainstorm how the hell to find Ivy.

"What did she do before she left?" Mr. Lombardi asks.

"Well, I helped her pack when she got home from school. She was quiet but I just assumed she was nervous." Mrs. Lombardi says with a look that could kill.

We sit in silence for a moment as we all think. "She told me she wrote a letter for Mr. Lombardi but said we could all read it. Do you still have it?"

"Yeah, Ivory worded really weirdly though." Mr. Lombardi says as he passes me the note.

My stomach drops when he says she worded it weirdly.

Dear Dad,
How exciting. Even though we just started dating we get to go on a vacation together. Let me tell you how happy I am that you and mom are letting me go! Pretty ocean views and warm weather. Miss you already. Everyone have fun while I'm gone!
