Chapter 20

I wait patiently for the Lombardis to let me come in. They stay in there for about 10 or 15 minutes before they come out and let me go in.

I take a deep breath before I walk in. Last I saw Ivy, a couple hours ago, she was covered in blood and slowly dieing. I'm not sure she will look any better now.

"Shay!" It's barely audible and sounds forced.

"Ivy? They said you weren't going to wake up for a couple of days."

"They also said I should be," she stops talking and coughs a bunch, "dead."

"It's okay you don't need to talk. I'm just glad your alive." I sit next to her but she motions for me come lay next to her.

Ivory's POV:

Shay lays next to me. I lay my head on his chest and listen to our heartbeats sync up. I must look like shit right now but I don't even care. Not with Shay.

Shays POV:

I listen to her heartbeat happy she's alive. I didn't even really take in how she looks. I'm more focused on her heartbeat and breathing.

"Hey Ivy?"

"Yes." She says firmly.

"You don't even know what I was going to ask you." I look at her and she smiles at me.

"Ok then ask."

"Will you be-"

"Yes I'll be your girlfriend." Ivy tries to move to kiss me but winces in pain. I love to her instead and plant a kiss on her lips.

"Finally."

"Finally." She repeats in a hushed tone.

Ivory's POV:

I fall back asleep in Shays arms. My neck already aches from talking. I heard everything Shay said on the way to the hospital. I no longer think he will hurt me. He has saved my life so many times not just because it's the right thing to do but because he really likes me.

I was able to leave the hospital after a week. Mom and Dad begged and bribed for me to released early saying it was dangerous for me to be in such a public and unsafe place with Maxim on the loose.

I've mostly just slept unless Shay was visiting me. Now that I am finally out of the hospital someone has to stay with me at all times. Normally Shay is the one with me. Everyone in our families knows by now that we are dating. Gia hasn't talked to either of us ever since.

Shay turns 18 soon. Which would technically make us illegal because I'm 16 but a lot of what we do in my family is illegal.

We are still searching for Maxim. There has been no sign of him since the last attack. That scares me a lot.

I return to school tomorrow. Alina has been switched into all of my classes and Matteo and Shay will be with me in between classes.

Shay and I are having a movie night tonight. I am currently freaking out trying to figure out what to wear. It's kind of our first date. I think? Is it a date or are we just hanging out? This is so complicated for no reason.

Okay close your eyes and just choose. I end up choosing grey sweatpants and a black v-neck, cropped tank top.

Do I need to shave? The realization hits me. Do I? I quickly rush into the shower to shave everywhere and everything. When I get out of the shower there are ten minutes before Shay shows up. I throw my clothes on and quickly brush and blow dry my hair. I look in the mirror and take a deep breath. I finished in time.

"Took you long enough." Shay stands leaning against the door frame of my bathroom.

Damn it. "Sorry."

"It's okay." Shay smiles as he walks over and wraps his arms around my waist. "Netflix and chill?" Shay winks.

I laugh while thinking of the last time he asked me that, "I like the Netflix part of that." I stand on my tippy toes and pucker my lips.

Shay goes to put a hand on my neck but quickly stops himself remembering my cut. He sings as puts his hand on my cheek and kisses me back. We walk over to my bed to put on a movie.

"What do you want to watch?" I ask before he can.

"Nothing I just want to make out with you." At least he isn't lieing.

"Okay." I put on a children's show wondering if he will notice.

I sit in his lap and we start making out. Shay grabs my hips and moves them up in down in a grinding motion. I feel his dick getting hard. That's when the Mickey Mouse theme song comes on. I keep making out and wait for him to notice.

"What the hell?" Shay stops kissing me and looks at the T.V. "Seriously Ivy? I said I didn't care but how are we supposed to make out to this."

"I wanted movies but you insisted on making out so I put on this to see if you would notice." I say pouting like a kid but also trying to contain my laugh.

"If you didn't want to make out you could have just said so." Shay moves me off of him. "I never want to force you to do anything Ivy."

"I know." I giggle even though he's being serious.

The rest of the night Shay and I just cuddle and watch movies.

Suddenly the door bursts open and Matteo stands on the other side breathing heavy. He looks like something is terribly wrong.

"What wrong?" I shoot up sending a sharp pain through my neck.

"Just wanted to let you know that Mom and Dad have overnight business tonight. I am in charge and give you permission to let Shay spend the night."

I run out of bed and hug Matteo. "Thank you. But I was planning on having him spend the night either way."

"Don't thank me. I'm only letting him stay so you don't tattle on me for having a girl stay. Gia is also staying with Angelina tonight so watch out for her." Matteo looks down the hallways as if checking for Gia.

"Oooooh. What girl this week?"

"Same girl you saw before we went to the sage house."

"Woah. Is Matteo Lombardi settling down?" Shay speaks up from my bed.

"I could say the same for you Shay." Matteo retorts.

"Nah. I've always liked Ivy and we all know it." I blush noticeably.

"Alright well I'm going to go back to my room. I'll leave you alone if you leave me alone."

"Deal." I shake Matteo's hand before shoving him out the door and closing it.
