I woke up that morning to a phone call. It was very unexpected. From a guy named Tom. He said he had a plan to take care of both our problems.
"I'm listening." I said over the phone.
"I know all about you Mr. Alberts. How Nicolas Gunn didn't do his job and that is why your father is dead." Tom said on the other line.
"This is true. We were friends for a long time. Ever since we were kids. I thought he would do his job. That he would know exactly what to do to free my father from a ridiculous claim." I stated.
"I know, and he deserves to pay for what he did." He had exclaimed.
"I'm still listening."
"Here's the plan. I will get inside his house, and when I do I will drug his coffee with Deslanoside a drug that cause a fatal heart attack. Though we need to make it as if someone had snuck into his house." He said.
"What do you mean by this?" I asked.
"Though I have placed the poison, we need it to look like someone else broke in and did so. That person will break in and get caught as they are leaving." He continued.
"I see that this is where I come into play, yes?" I asked knowing the answer.
"Yes, you would sneak into his house in the middle of the night. This would make it look as if someone had broken in to poison him." Tom said clearing his throat.
"But what if he has a gun? If he shoots at me?" I said.
"I will take care of that also! Just let me handle the details." This was the last thing he said as he hung up.
I was finally going to get my revenge on the one who killed my father. I never knew this moment would come. I wonder what Nicolas did to make this guy want to murder him also. It must be something; Nicolas has a lot of enemies and he knows it.
I got dressed in my baseball gear and headed to the practice field. I normally practice in the mornings when no one else is around. This time wasn't any different. I drove out to the field and practiced my swings.
It was getting kind of cloudy, so I decided to call it a day and to head on to the store before I got home. I needed some supplies for tonight before breaking into my first house.
Finding a black jacket, some black gloves, and some new sneakers I place them all in a cart. It was too close of a call when Nicolas walked past me. We made eye contact and I thought it was over.
"Hey, how are you doing John?" he asked.
I didn't want to talk to him. Any other time I might have pretended to be nice and carry a conversation. Not this time though. What if he suspects something? What if he finds out what I'm doing? What if he asks about the stuff in my cart? I couldn't risk any of that. So, I got out of there.
"I don't want to be your friend. I don't want to talk to you. Not even a part of anything we used to have." I said walking away.
I checked out and left the store as fast as possible. He couldn't have suspected anything but what if he did?

After work I headed straight home. I had to be out in the yard when Nicolas Gunn arrived. My plan was to find a way to get invited into his house. Once in, I would place the poison in his coffee and steal his gun. Jumping out of my car, I ran to my garage and grabbed my rake. I thought to myself that wouldn't work because I raked the yard yesterday. So, instead I walk out to the mail box to grab the mail. When I got to my mail box, he had pulled into his driveway.
