The Evidence

After I interviewed the suspects I had an understanding of some things in which I didn't when this case first started. I made my way hobbling out into the fog. The rain had stopped hours ago, but the fog was now finally dissipating. Heading back to my cabin I turned on my flashlight so I could see a little better. Good thing I did because If not I would have ran straight into a truck. It was Ken Scully's F150, and shining my light around his truck I found a shovel and some rope in the bed. Why would he need this in his truck? I thought to myself.

I walked around his truck to look at his front bumper, seeing exactly what I would expect. It was dented in and had chips of paint the same color as my car. Ken was the one who ran me off the road on my way back. But why? Did Mr. Scully kill Nicolas Gunn? Or was he part of something bigger?

I don't know it's just all, well foggy. When I get back in my cabin I pull my laptop out and start to type out the evidence found. I also type up my notes I took during the interviews. The torn fabric, the fingerprint of Oswald Jackson, the picture misplaced in the kitchen, poisoned coffee, eight inch shoe print, 1911 pistol, and the true murder weapon a revolver, which is still missing.

Looking over the fabric, I remember that Debbie said she was wearing a scarf, yet she wasn't wearing it when I spoke to her. She was wearing the dress but no scarf.

The shoe print belongs to someone with eight inch shoes. I noticed that only Sam Duncan, Isabelle Harris, and Lauren Kossel have small enough feet to fit this print. Everyone else have bigger shoes or the tread worn down enough not to leave an imprint as visible. This is from looking at everyone's shoes as they left the dining hall. Could Sam Duncan's name actually be Oswald Jackson, or does this name belong to someone different entirely?

That leaves the murder weapon. Nicolas's gun was left at the crime scene, though not the one used to kill him. John Alberts, Tom VanSteinburg, Ken Scully, and Donald Brunson had the perfect opportunities to sneak into his house the night before the murder. However, Tom is a doctor and had access to Deslanoside. Unless he was working with someone, as in John Alberts. Nonetheless, why steal a gun the night before just to leave it at the crime scene the next day? The revolver used to kill Nicolas was still floating around and I guess the killer still has the gun in his or her possession.

I called the lab to see if they had received any other news about the case at hand.

"I interviewed the suspects and have some information but still have not put the pieces of this puzzle together. I need you to look up a suspect sketch of the bank robber of D.P. Bank a while back. I think he may be here within the camp" I say on the phone. "Also look up Oswald Jackson. His past information and if you could find his present information. If you could see if Nicolas had any money actually going to the school. The one that Miss Harris works at. I'm suspecting that the money was going straight to her account."

The guy on the other end sent me a picture of the sketch, that looked exactly like Pete Yamani, other than he now had darker hair back then.

He also told me that Oswald Jackson's father was part of the mafia. He had gone under a witness protection agency to testify against the mafia boss, but soon was found dead. Oswald Jackson is John Alberts. Or John Alberts is Oswald Jackson.

Before I hung up my phone he said that there has been no money donated to the school by Mr. Gunn. So, Isabelle had been embezzling money from Nicolas and he found out. That's why he didn't give her more money, not that he didn't have it at the moment. Not really a good motive because either way she would lose her income if he lives or dies. "Thank you, I will call you if I need anything else."

I decided to take another little walk. This time down the driveway of the campgrounds. The driveway leads almost right past the boat house. If Sam Duncan was out and about the night of the party he could have went into the boat house at any time. If he was drunk he could have stumbled in, leaving the shoe print as he made his way back outside. Continuing down the drive I see something off towards the woods line. It almost looked like a hole. Making my way to the woods line I realize quickly that it was a hole. Judging by the size and diameter it is big enough to place the body of Nicolas Gunn. Very interesting I say to myself.

I see now why Ken had the shovel in the bed of his truck. Also, why he showed up later than everyone else. If Ken killed Nicolas, he must not have had time to drag his body to the hole and bury the body. Either way he tried to run me off the road for some reason. I just don't know why that is.

Leaving the woods line I walk back up to the boat house, crossing the caution tape I open the door. Stepping in I turn the light on and take one last look around. I see the pool of blood dried up and the outline of the body taped on the floor. The shoe print still there next to the entrance I make out something I didn't before. The impression of the name brand Adidas was ever so lightly visible in the shoe print and I didn't see it before.

I stepped back and tried to reconstruct the events of the murder. So, at exactly seven Nicolas Gunn walked into the boat house. On his way he had been stopped by Pete Yamani, the bank robber. After leaving him he had seen Donald and Debbie talking, and John and Tom also talking off to the side. Though everyone but Ken had arrived.

Nicolas walks in through the front door and makes his way grabbing some party supplies. He decides to sit down because the party is not starting for awhile. Facing the front he pulls out his his phone. If the killer came in from the back then Nicolas wouldn't have seen him coming. The killer walks in and makes his way up to Mr. Gunn. He or she, then shoots Nicolas once in the chest and as he is struggling to survive shoots him again. Thinking someone could have heard the shots they make there way out the same way they came in.

I head to the back of the boat house where I found the fingerprint and make my way outside. The fog had finally cleared and I could see around me. I walk back in, and see a nail sticking out of the door with a string of the fabric hanging from it. The scarf must have been torn here upon entry. I continue back towards the front and as I do, I find something else on the floor that may have cracked this case wide open.
