Swift Grace (#2 in the Golden series)

Chapter Six: Hunter goes hunting

Over the next few days everyone keeps to themselves, mourning Jay's parents. "hey, you ok" I hear Emmy ask me.

"Yes I'm fine just really sad and the fact I didn't get to mourn my mum, it's all just hit me ya know" I say what on my mind.

"I know baby and it will all work out, trust me. I lost my parent when I was five, it heals after time" she says helping me fill the void that's taken hold of me.

"I'm so lucky, I love you" I say cuddling up to her in my bed.

"I love you too" she says.

"I would be dead without you" I reply.

"You're the only reason I live" she admits.

"Well we are together and I'm never letting you go" I command.

She laughs and I pull her close. "Hey have you two seen Hunter?" Toby says rushing into our room.

"No why, what's up?" I reply getting worried.

"She has been missing for ages" he says frantically searching for her.

"Come on let's go find her then" I say grabbing Emmy's coat and putting it on her.

We all run down to the garden and I cup my hands, ready to howl for her."what are you doing?" Toby asks me.

"Me and mine used to howl if we couldn't find each other, it's what wild wolves do" I say like it isn't obvious.

"That's great, try it Kay"He says.

"Ok here goes" I say while lifting head up, my howl echoes along the woods and we wait.

"Do you think it worked?" Emmy asks me, just as Hunters howl comes to us.

"Yep it worked let's go" I say running into the woods.

The pack surround me as we head off to find our lost pack mate. "hey I think that's her" Jay says, turning to get a look.

We all follow Jay and find Hunter, she has a human in her mouth and she shakes until he is dead. "Hunter. What's going on?" I ask knowing she can't talk.

We approach her and she starts to growl at us, "easy, we just want to see if your alright" I say getting low to the ground.

I pretty much crawl to her, she whines at me and Toby throws some clothes over. "Are you ok to phrase?" I ask.

She nods her head and grabs the clothes, going behind a tree. "I'm good" I hear Hunter say.

"What was that about?" I ask.

"I J-just wanted to give the hunters a little pay back" she replies.

I nod and hug her, "look out" I hear Emmy shout.

We duck just in time, hunters surround us. "Hunter get Jaze and run" I say, her being an alpha refuses. I growl as she leaps into action and tries to take out as many as possible. I join in fearing she could get hurt.

Bullets ricochet around me, I duck and spin, coming up punching. "Kay!" Toby shouts from across the field.

I spin round and a hunter brings his gun down on me, I fall to the floor, too dazed to stop him going in for the kill. "at least I can take one beast out with me" he says.

"Roll, now!" Jay says as he smashes into the hunter, I roll as instructed and leap to my feet.

A thickly fluid rolls down into my eyes and I reach up to find blood coats my head and hands. "You ok?" Jay asks me. I nod and we fight together.

Soon all but one hunter is either dead or mostly dead. I look around at the carnage we have made, I shake my head. "why did all of them have to die" I whisper to myself.

Just as I'm about to head back, I hear a terrified scream. "Emmy!" I shout running towards her scream. I leap and phrase in midair. Growling I take down the hunter who has got out of Toby's clutches.

I gently sniff Emmy all over to make sure she is ok, when I find she is not hurt I lay down waiting for her to climb on. "I'm not gunna get on your back, Kay" he giggles but gets on anyway.

We run back to where the pack anxiously wait for us. "is everything ok?" Toby asks, I nod and he tells me to go get the body so we can burn them.

As we walk back to place where I'd killed the hunter, Emmy whispers in my ear "thank you, I love you".

I huff to let her know I love her too and we carry on to the kill site. once in place we both drag the carcass to our pack. I fell a tingle on my head and figure out that my wound is beginning to heal.

"Ok just put it on the top" Toby says when we return, I nod and Emmy slips off my back. I jump with the body and he lands on the top.

I lay down and Emmy curls next to me as we watch the hunters bodies turn into ash.

I gently start to lick her hair of the hunter blood and the twin watch us, Emmy giggles and start to fall asleep on me.

"Well nice bonfire, want some marshmallows?" Toby asks as he makes sticks pointy.

"Me me" the twins shout at the same time. I huff and lick Emmy to wake her.

"Me" she says groggily replied. As Toby does the food, I get up and guard our makeshift camp.

"Time to go home" Toby says a little while later. 

On the way home I carry Emmy on my back and Jay carries Hunter while jet carries Jaze who is sound asleep.

When we get in I run up the stairs to my room which Emmy has taken to sleeping in. I stretch and yawn, I gently lay Emmy down on one side of the bed, after making sure she is comfy, I phrase and lay down next to her.

As I pull her into me, my dreams starts to come alive. She curls up on me ad we both fall asleep.
