From hither and far you shall hear Its shriek

Shall hear It sneak and slither and creak

From hither and far It will bang like a drum

It will trick you and treat you with jewels and rum

It has no manners because where it is from

In the stead of manners the boys and girls learn to run

Learn to cry and to cough and to fall and to choke

Learn to hide your fingers away from the spokes

Your back will cry and your hair will fall

Your lips will chap and your eyes will grow small

But your feet will drag you even when they cant

Your fingers will recite their cursed daily chant

"For the sticks and stones, they break my bones"

But the words will tell me it's worth the gold

With a voice of needles and a ruthless bite

With a demeanor of demonium and eyes dark as night

It will curse you and cheat you

It will eat you and beat you

It will crawl up your back while you lie in bed

It will bite your skull and spit blood in your head

It will blow dust in your eyes and make you blind

It will creep back into the darkest corners to hide

Like a lone wolf, like a lion, It's a prowler

And you'll be dead before you can scream "The Hidden Howler"
