Chapter 5

When I got up to my mom's room it was about 9:30. That was the time of morning rounds so when I got up there I saw a bunch of doctors surrounding my  moms bed. I pushed my way through the doctors and I was then able to get to my mom. I carefully sat down next to her and let the doctors finish their rounds. I didn't really understand what they were saying so, I just laid back and tried to think that maybe what they were saying was good and not a whole bunch of talk about surgery and complications. 

They were at least talking for about 20 minutes when my dad came in. 

"Hey, what'd I miss." 

"We were just going over her surgery today to wire her mouth shut so it can heal correctly," Jackson said. 

"Ok sounds good. When is the surgery?" My dad asked. 

"It will be tonight at 6," Jackson said. 

"Sounds like a plan." The doctors finished talking and then left, my dad following them. I was on my phone scrolling through Instagram when I felt my mom tap my leg. I looked up and saw her padding the extra space on her bed. I got up and came over to her and sat down. She reached her arms and i carefully moved closer to her. I was so scared to hurt her but at the same time I just wanted to hug her and be with her. 

Once in her arms I closed my eyes while she brushed through my hair with her fingers. I felt tears start to form in my eyes but I quickly blinked them back. After staying in each others embrace for a couple of minutes I heard my dad come in. I could tell that he came with news but I didn't know if it was good or bad. 

"I brain bleed just came into the ER. I thought Dr. Nelson was on call but he called out sick. I have to go scrub in but it will only take a couple of hours," my dad said, sitting down on the edge of the bed. I adjusted myself so I was sitting up. 

"Ok, I can stay here until your done," I replied. 

"Thank you y/n." Before leaving her gave me a kiss on the head and my mom a kiss on the lips. I could tell she was in a bit of pain but she still was able to keep a slight smile on her face. 

I turned to my mom and asked her if she wanted to watch a movie. I then quickly remembered she couldn't hear. I decided to just grab the remote from her side table and go through some movies. When I found one that I thought we'd both like I looked at her for approval and she shook her head, signaling she liked it. I clicked on it and we snuggled back up to watch it. 

*time jump a couple of hours* 

I must have fallen asleep because when I opened my eyes my mom was sleeping and the TV was turned up. I decided to get up to use the bathroom and go ask a nurse if my dad was done with surgery. I got up slowly from the bed careful not to wake my mom. I successfully got up and used the bathroom. I then made my way over to the nurses section to see if my dad was done. 

The nurse told me he was done about an hour ago and I could probably find him in the attending lounge of the fourth floor. I nodded at her and said thank you. I grabbed my phone from the side of my moms bed and then left her little note saying I went to go see dad. 

I made it to the attending lounge and saw my dad talking to some other attendings. I quietly slipped into the room and sat next to my dad. He finished talking them turned to me. 

"Hey sweetie. How's your mom?"

"When I left she was sleeping. We watched a movie and then we both fell asleep. How did your surgery go?" 

"The bleed was in a difficult spot but we go to it with little problems occurring." He said with a smile. 

"Good I'm glad. Wanna go get some lunch?" 

"Yea sure lets go." 

We made our way down to the cafeteria. I got a salad with chicken while my dad got a sandwich. While eating my dad got a page from my Jackson, he wanted to move my mom's surgery to an hour from now. We finished our late lunch fast so we could see my mom before she went into pre op. 

When we got to my moms room she was sitting staring at the wall. I walked in with my dad behind me and she sat back up smiling.  I smiled back at her and I am sure my dad did too. My dad walked over to my mom and sat on her bed. I was getting a phone call from Konner but I saw the doctors coming down to take my mom to pre op so I decided to hang up. My dad and me both said our goodbyes to my mom before she went into surgery. After they wheeled her out of the room me and my dad stood there. He grabbed me into a warm embrace. We stood there for a couple of seconds until I broke the silence. 

"Dad do you think you could take me and the others back home now. I can put them to sleep and them myself cause I have to get up early for school tomorrow."

"Oh yea. Of course. I totally forgot about school. Do you think you could get Konner's mom to drive you tomorrow to school?" 

"Yea I don't think they would mind." I said smiling. 

*time jump to the house*

"Bye sweetie have a good night." 

"Bye dad goodnight, love you." 

"Love you too." 

I carried sleeping Ellis in while Bailey and Zola ran to the door. I let them in and told them to go get there pjs on while I get Ellis' bottle warmed up. They raced up the stairs and I laughed at them for having so much energy for the night. I grabbed the milk from the fridge and then warmed it up in the bottle warmer. After the bottle was warm I sat down on the couch with Ellis and carefully fed her the bottle. After about half way through the bottle I burped her and then she finished the rest. I got up from the couch and then put the bottle in the sink. Ellis was peacefully sleeping on my chest so I went to go see what Zola ans Bailey were up too. 

I walked up the stairs to see where Zola and Bailey were. I walked into Zola's room and saw her getting a book out to read it with Bailey. When she saw me come in she ran toward me a asked if she could the story tonight. I said yes. Before reading to them I wanted to put Ellis down for bed but when I went to do that she grabbed a hold of my bra strap. I decided to just keep her on my chest so I then made my way to read to Zola ans Bailey. 

I read to them for 15 minutes. I then decided to put them to bed because they had school in the morning too but my dad would drove them. I tucked Zola in first then Bailey. Ellis was still sleeping so instead of trying to move her again I face time Konner to see how the party was and if he could drive me to school tomorrow. I rang him and he picked up almost instantly. 

We were talking for about an hour then Ellis started to stir. I told him I had to go put Ellis down for bed. He said ok. "Goodnight Konner, I love you." "Goodnight y/n, I love you." We both smiled before hanging up. 

*time jump 20 minutes* 

I got Ellis down and cleaned the kitchen up and then got ready for bed. I have never felt do tired so I quickly fell asleep wondering what tomorrow would bring.

Heeyyy I know I updated a little late but I just did not know what to write but then it all came to me. Kinda loved how she put all the kids to bed in the last part.
