Guy gulped and held tight to the briefcase in his arms. Sam had just been hauled off to jail, and now Guy was trying to get away from Stovepipe as fast as possible. Mr. Jenkins warbled happily from inside the briefcase, oblivious to the fact that Sam was now gone, and there was nothing he or Guy could do about it.
"Where to, partner?" the taxi driver spoke, bringing Guy back from his sorrows. "Meepville, please, and fast.
The driver nodded and turned to the radio, switching a dial here and there to finetune the station, finally turning up the volume to hear the current song.
"All dried up and my heart's all muddy," the radio began.
"You're my best friend, and my travel buddy," the singing continued.
"So come back...Guy!"
Guy lurched upwards in his seat. What the yip? Was that Sam? How did he get a hit single out already!? Guy thought in his head.
"Turn it off!" he yelled after a moment, trying to regather his thoughts.
The driver switched off the radio in a panicked fashion. "Geez, I love Sam. I thought everyone loved Sam," he grumbled.
I do, Guy thought. I just don't know if he'll ever love me back.
