Life Song
With weary eyes they watched us play
With weary ears they heard us say
Sing your life song please
Sing your life song to meTell me who you are
Tell me who you were
Bear your soul to me
So I can feel and see
the simple mystery
and what a life song
means to meSo we listened but did not hear
We watched but never understood
Until we owned our own life song
and learned the cost to sing alongAlong came life to follow life
and roads once closed; opened wide
Soon bells rang for husband or wife
and life sang out by our sideOn the porch we came to rest
knowing we had done our best
till with weary hearts we observed
and with weary minds; all we had learnedAnd they asked a familiar thing
that we would share
that we might singSing your life song please
Sing your life song to meTell me who you are
Tell me who you were
Bear your soul to me
So I can feel and see
the simple mystery
and what a life song
means to me
