Impatiently
You whispered majestic things in minor keys
and the world fell to its knees
and all the overtures of all the shows
could not outplay your simple songThe evergreen and the maple bowed
at the beauty this life allowed
to grace my own simple soul
the day you became my friendFarewell my kindred broken heart
as you sojourn there all alone
across the sea I cannot swim
so far away from this so-called homeAs waves return in memory
And days roll out toward other shores
I will wait here impatiently
to sing with you once more
