Just as Chae's vision had predicted, she later found herself walking through the gloomy streets of Diagon Alley with her cousin Sora. The streets were quiet and other than the fluorescent lights coming from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes there was no light nor laughter streaming into the place, it was nearly a mirror image copy of Knockturn Alley.
Chae had no doubt that the war was beginning to creep closer to the wizarding world and she certainly knew that associating herself with Harry Potter, the boy who was quite literally a walking target, was not a safe option. But, it was the only option Chaerin would choose, there was no way that in a time like this she would turn her back on the young boy.
She knew that if worst came to worst then she could hide away in the Muggle society, she knew it was the easy option. Chaerin Chang was not one to choose the easy option. If the Dark Lord wanted to fight, then Chaerin would sacrifice her life if it meant saving many others.
If it meant destroying a serpent being who was cold-blooded and nothing but pure evil, Chae was ready to put things right in the wizarding world.
Discrimination against anyone is not a joke, nor would she tolerate it. Violence against another living and breathing human being over something they cannot control was inhumane, and it would take another type of sick and twisted to even think of doing something like that.
But that's what Lord Voldemort was. He was sick and twisted, pure venomous evil floated through his bloodstream and passed onto anything else he touched. He left a long trail of torture behind him wherever he went.
However, despite Chae believing that he was evil she thought he was a coward and weak. Since Harry was born he'd failed to kill him, it was no longer starting to look like small mistakes in a big plan.
In conclusion, Chae thought that Lord Voldemort needed serious therapy for his issues.
"I could be at home enjoying a nice cup of tea, did you seriously have to drag me out?" Chae whined, trailing after her red-haired cousin, Sora.
"Chae, I left my wand in there! I naturally cannot function without it," Sora reasoned, slowing her pace down to walk next to Chaerin.
"Why can't Madam Malkin just send it to you in the post?" Chae questioned, puffing her cheeks out.
"Don't be silly Chae, it will take ten minutes not even that, stop being Miss Grumpy Pants."
Chae rolled her eyes at her cousin's teasing smile but followed her into the robe shop, her dainty hand closed the door behind them. She turned her head to each side, her eyes looking out of the door to make sure they were not being followed by any unwanted guests.
Sora was in the backroom with Madam Malkin as Chae looked around at the pretty robes in the store, she thought to maybe purchase a few but that would mean staying out of the house longer. This was something she did not want to do considering she could practically hear Sora's sofa calling her name.
"Are you ready to go?" Sora asked, placing a hand on Chae's shoulder causing the brunette to jump slightly.
"Jesus, Sora! That was a near-death experience, don't do that again!" Chae scolded, the two of them beginning to trudge towards the entrance.
"You are so over-dramatic," her cousin responded, holding the door open for them.
Chae said nothing as the wind hit her in the face, blowing her hair backward. Now that she was outside again, an unsettling feeling formed in her stomach. Something wasn't right and she could feel it in her bones, a small sensation of fear began to trickle down her spine.
She grabbed Sora's hand tightly and began to walk them both away from the shop.
"Don't say anything. Keep your wand out," Chaerin urged.
Their footsteps echoed against the pavement, the two girls were trying to navigate their way towards the exit of Diagon Alley but they were having no luck. Every corner they turned felt like they were getting nowhere closer to leaving, was an exit really that hard to find?
Suddenly, a blast of red light shot past them. Narrowly missing Sora's hair, Chae tugged her cousin behind a recycling bin, hoping to shelter them from any more unwanted attacks. The young Ravenclaw peaked her head over the top of the bin to see a masked Death Eater staring directly at her.
He raised his wand quickly and aimed a spell at Chae's head, causing her to duck. Her heart began to race and her eyes flickered over to a panicked Sora who was frozen in fear, unlike Chaerin she had never been in a situation like this before.
"It's okay, only one is following us. There's two of us, giving us a better chance of survival, I just need you to focus for me okay?" Chae said soothingly, earning a nod from Sora.
Chae did not let go of Sora's hand, she stood up abruptly and raised her wand quickly, a stunning spell shot out of the tip of it but the Death Eater deflected it. The next spell came from Sora, but it did not seem to affect the Death Eater.
"Do you have a plan?"
"Currently, no. In a minute? Maybe. Just wing it."
Sora's eyes widened at Chae's response but did as she was told to. Blasts of red and green could be seen firing in the air, Chae's brain was working hard to form a plan but right now a lot of her attention was focused on trying to not become Death Eater food.
It was as if a lightbulb had appeared above her head, she grabbed Sora's hand and did not utter a word of explanation but her legs were moved rapidly. The plan she had configured consisted of running before taking the Death Eater out from behind. All they needed to do was take the Death Eater by surprise, then they could apparate out of there after stunning their attacker.
Chae turned into an alleyway, it was a dead-end but there was room behind a dumpster. The smell was rotten but if they hid behind there, they could creep out the other side and stun the Death Eater from behind. She put a finger to her lip and motioned for Sora to be quiet when the Death Eater began to walk into the alleyway.
The two young witches began to creep their way around the dumpster cautiously, Chae could practically feel her heart in her throat but she knew she needed to be brave. However, there was a reason she was not a Gryffindor.
Silence fell over the three opponents, it was so quiet that you would be able to hear a pin drop. Chae and Sora waited a second before they stepped out from behind the dumpster with their wands raised, ready to attack or deflect.
It was fortunate for them that the Death Eater had his back turned just as Chae planned.
"Stupefy!"
The Death Eater fell to the floor with a thud and Sora wasted no time in gripping her cousin's hand, apparating out of there and safely into Sora's home. The two of them were safe. For now...
