two weeks had passed by since the yule ball, chae didn't feel the same anymore. she felt pieces of her were missing, but that wasn't going to stop her from avoiding the one and only fred weasley. even if it hurt her to do it, she refused to let him back in.
part of her thought she was overreacting because it wasn't exactly as if fred couldn't kiss angelina, fred wasn't her boyfriend, he hadn't cheated on her... the other part of chae thought her actions were rational, she felt played, she felt as if fred knew that she liked him and played it to his strengths.
chaerin had spoken to george and ron many times but whenever fred came along, she'd leave as quickly as her feet could take her even if he asked her to stay. the girl hadn't spoken a word to him since that night.
and as for angelina, she thoroughly disliked the girl now and she didn't like the fact that she felt that way towards angelina because chae knew that she only felt that way because she was jealous. jealous that fred had kissed angelina instead of kissing her, because she'd liked that boy for so long that chae finally thought maybe they could be something.
the dark brunette let out a sigh when she placed her bag down on the table next to sora, they had charms and it was their last period of the day. chae knew that if she could just get through the rest of the day, she could go back to the ravenclaw common room and bury herself in a book.
"chae? are you okay?" sora asked, as she ignored the fact that the weasley twins were sat right at the desk behind theirs.
"yeah sora, i'm good" chaerin lied.
"i can see right through you, come on, it's friday night, stay over at my dorm tonight" sora offered, causing chae to smile at her.
"sora, i don't want to ruin your time with cedric"
"cedric can wait, you're my priority right now, you're family chae, you're my cousin!"
chae laughed at sora and nodded her head, agreeing. professor flitwick walked in and the girl smiled softly as the small man climbed onto his stack of books so he could see his class.
the girl listened intently whilst taking many notes when professor flitwick was talking, chae was known to be top of her class in each class she took. she was often told that she was just like her mother, her mother had done many great things at hogwarts and often the younger years knew who chaerin was because her mother was known as a dark wizard catcher.
it all sounded completely wonderful that way, but it wasn't when you were constantly worrying that your mother could die whenever she went to work. however, chae knew for a fact that her mother was the strongest woman she'd ever met, one of many great other women.
chaerin placed her quill onto her fifth piece of parchment when something hit her shoulder and fell in front of her. she saw the piece of parchment that had been screwed up into a ball, she shook her head and unravelled the ball, reading what it said as sora stared at what she was doing.
please can we talk, chae i'm sorry, how many times do i have to tell you?
chae scoffed lightly before she pulled her wand out from her robe, pointing it gently at the note.
"incendio" she muttered quietly and sora stared in shock that she'd just started a fire in the middle of her class.
"miss chang! what have i told you about creating fires in my lesson?!" professor flitwick scolded as he stared at the girl, chae nodded her head at him.
"sorry professor! i didn't mean to" she apologised and her professor left it there.
the weasley twins stared at each other in disbelief, fred banged his head on the table. frustrated with the fact that chae still wouldn't talk to him, if she wasn't talking to him the least she could do was write him a note back, not set the note on fire.
"freddie, i think she's still mad at you" george laughed and fred let out a groan.
"at this rate she'll never forgive me" fred said.
"well you did sort of kiss another girl right in front of her" lee piped in from behind them.
"how many times do i have to tell you that i didn't mean to!" said fred exasperatedly.
"no you just accidentally shoved your tongue down angelina's throat" george argued lightly.
fred rolled his eyes and george and lee laughed at him.
"we know you didn't freddie, but it's not us you should be telling, it's chae"
"yeah you know the girl that you made cry, which by the way, i will kill you for that" lee threatened.
sora nudged chae lightly in the ribs and whispered to her, having just heard the whole conversation that chae managed to block out.
"are you seriously avoiding him still?" she sighed.
chae nodded.
"sora i can't bare to look at him when i all i see is that image of him snogging angelina"
"oh chaerin, if it makes you feel better, i nearly did kill the boy, if it wasn't for the professors and cedric then i would've been wiping the floor with him"
this caused chae to laugh loudly and the three boys behind them turned their heads quickly to look at what she was laughing at. when they saw sora laughing too they figured it was something sora had said.
"i think she's beautiful when she laughs" said fred softly.
"she thinks you're an utter twat" lee said, causing fred to glare at him and george to chuckle.
"he's got a point fred" said george.
"i know, i know but don't you think two weeks is a bit much?" fred asked.
lee shook his head.
"you know what girls are like mate, in girl world it's completely rational to act like that" he explained, causing fred and george to furrow their eyebrows at him.
"ah yes, lee jordan the famous girl expert" fred responded.
"yes, please tell us how you became the master of the subject which is girls" george teased, causing the twins to laugh and lee to glare at them. the three of them quietened down, leaving fred to think about how he was going to get chae to talk to him, which seemed to be a bigger problem when it actually came to acting on the situation.
