I was woken up by someone jumping on my bed. Today was the day I was going to play hard to get with Raurke. It was just to grab his attention, but at the same time I am a bit nervous about the whole thing. I'm really not so sure about this, but I have to give it a shot.
All morning Ali fixed me up. She got me a really cute and girly outfit, put make up on me, and did my hair. When I saw myself in the mirror, I couldn't recognize myself at all. I looked at her and she said, "Oh my god, I think I am going to keep you for myself and make you my daughter. Eek you look so adorable!"
I blushed and said, "You really think so, Ali?"
She nodded and I grinned. "Ali, you are the best. Thank you so much! So are you ready to go to breakfast?"
"You bet I am! I'm starving." Ali responded.
"When aren't you hungry?" I said, winking at her. We looked at one another and started to laugh. Ali and I left our room and went to the elevator. I don't know why but, I was excited to see Raurke for some reason. I wondered how he would react. I was a bit nervous and fidgety, playing with my hands. I gulped and looked down as the door shut and the elevator went down to the main lobby. When we got down there I felt as though everyone's eyes were on me and I was very uneasy with all the stares I was receiving. I took in a deep breath and kept walking. This is all for Raurke to notice me, that is the only reason, I repeated as a mantra in my head. I looked forward and my breath all just stopped there. I saw Raurke's eyes open wide in surprise and his jaw hit the floor. I blushed. The girl next to him hit him in the shoulder to get his attention but he wouldn't budge. I looked at that girl up and down. Why is she with him? What is their relationship? I didn't like that girl sitting where I should be. Not the slightest bit. Maybe I can make him angry, I thought, thinking of the whole reason I did this.
I felt someone tap my shoulder and I snapped out of my trance. I whipped around and there stood a few of the most popular (and attractive) boys in our class. I was quite shocked and I accidently came off as, well, a bitch. It's probably because I didn't want them to notice me. I wanted to be noticed by Raurke.
"What do you want?" I said with raised eyebrows.
"Well Daisy, if I might say, you are hot when you tidy up a bit," Tylor Stevenson said to me, running his eyes up and down my body. I had the urge to go punch him in his pretty little face. But I held back and gave a forced smile and simpered, "Why, thank you, Tylor, for the compliment." He threw me the smolder.
"Can I sit with you guys today?" Tylor asked, biting his lip.
I looked over at Ali. She smiled at me and nodded towards Raurke, who was staring my direction. My heart leaped in my throat; it was beating so fast it wasn't even funny. I could feel the pulse through my body, increasing every second Raurke looks at me. In that brief second our eyes made contact and my heart stopped then exploded. His autumn brown eyes stared into the depths of my soul and the clutches of my heart. It was almost as if he were trying to read my soul, as if I was a book he wanted to read. I looked away first, breaking the eye contact between us. I felt someone tapping my shoulder.
"Let's sit together," Tylor said.
"Uhhhh...sure, why not?" I said a little uncertainly.
"Great, let's go," he said, grabbing my hand. We whipped around, only to run smack dab into Simon.
"Don't touch her. You never noticed her until she looked like this," Simon said defensively, sizing himself up uncomfortably to Tylor.
"You wanna try and say that again, nerd?" Tylor sneered.
"He is right, you know," I muttered without thinking. He gave me a nasty look and pushed me off.
"You little whore." Tylor then strode away with his friends out of the dining room. I stood there, just so dumbfounded, thinking about what had just gone down. I looked to where Raurke was sitting and saw him playing with his food. His face had a look of disgust on it. Maybe he doesn't like pancakes. I shrugged and sat down with Ali and ate my breakfast. Not too long after I finished eating, I saw Raurke get up and leave in the same direction as Tylor did. I sighed in disappointment of him leaving and looked down at the table. I guess Raurke really isn't really attracted to me. This entire getup was for nothing. It didn't do anything at all. It didn't help Raurke find me attractive; he just looked disgusted instead.
My internal rant was interrupted as I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was one of Tylor's friends. He looked worried and said, "Get your emo boyfriend off Tylor!"
I just looked at the boy like he was insane. What the heck is he talking about? Emo boyfriend?
"Come on, Raurke is beating Tylor up!" Tylor's friend said, dragging me out of my seat and pulling me out of the dining room. "I have never seen him this angry before. Your name keeps coming up as he's yelling at Tylor."
My heart skipped a beat. I ran and followed the boy down the hallway. I stopped dead as we turned the corner and gasped. There stood Raurke, leaning over Tylor and panting as if he just got done running a marathon. Raurke's face was full of rage and anger, and his eyes turned in to the fire of hell. His jaw tensing as he looked at Tylor, who in my eye, looked like shit. His face had blood running down it and his mouth had blood coming from it. He had a black eye and bruises blooming on his face. No matter how you look at it, Raurke won this fight. It's kind of amazing, considering that Tylor is the top wrestler and, knowing Tylor, he probably cheated and used his wrestling skills to his advantage. I was awed. Raurke always has to win, no matter what.
"DON'T YOU EVER, EVER CALL DAISY A WHORE EVER AGAIN!" he snarled with a punch to Tylor's gut. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? DO YOU UNDERSTAND? YOU WILL APPOLIGIZE TO HER!"
Tylor frantically shook his head, indicating that he understood.
"Good. Now leave my sight. I can't stand your face." Raurke said, breathing heavily and pushing him away. Tylor scrambled to his feet and he tried to leave when Raurke caught glimpse of me. Pulling Tylor back, he shoved him towards me and whispered, "Aren't you forgetting something, Tylor?"
Tylor quickly ran up to me. He looked at me desperately with his bloody face. "I'm so sorry for calling you a whore, Daisy, I promise I won't do it ever again," he said hurriedly before stumbling away. The crowd lingered before Raurke angrily yelled, "THERE IS NOTHING TO WATCH HERE!" With that said, everybody left muttering to one another about what just went down.
Suddenly Raurke and I then were left in the abandoned room. I walked over to him and looked down.
"You should not have done that, Raurke." I said quietly.
He was silent for a few moments. "How is your ankle doing?"
I glared at him, knowing he was trying to divert the conversation. "It still hurts but that's beside the point. You should not have done that," I replied. Raurke looked at me, eyes burning with fire and anger that raged within his very soul.
His eyes went soft as he looked at me, but got very serious. "Daisy, you should never dress like that ever again," he said, biting his bottom lip.
I gawked at him in disbelief. Like what the hell, I did this to catch his eye and he tells me never to dress like this ever again?
"What did you just say?" I accused, feelings hurt.
"Never dress like that ever again. It doesn't make look – you are not attractive like that, Daisy. It makes you look ugly," he said with finality, looking up at the ceiling.
"I.....I'm ugly?" I asked, crushed.
"Yes."
