Keven and I hit it off the whole ride talking about hot guys while Raurke sat and listened to us rabble away.
"I have a question, Keven, if you don't mind me asking... but do your dad and mom know you are gay?"
He looked at me, then at the road. He sighed and said, "No, my mom and dad would disapprove and would basically disown me. They disapprove of the same sex liking one another... I want them to meet my boyfriend but if they found out they would never speak to me again."
"Gosh, I'm sorry. I bet it is hard for you." I responded sympathetically.
"Yeah, it is. Thanks," Keven responded with a little smile in my direction.
I grinned back and said, "No problem."
Raurke proceeded to interrupt our conversation by saying to me: "You have such a stupid smile on your face. Might I say this again, he is GAY."
"Hey I know that, you delinquent wannabe emo boy. It is called being nice. Oh wait – you don't know that strange word! I'm so sorry I forgot that," I said, my voice dripping with sass.
I heard Keven chuckling by me and I said, "What's so funny, Keven?"
"You two fight like a married couple. It cracks me up because you two are so young. I don't think I have ever seen Raurke fight with a girl before. He normally just tries to pick them up," Keven responded, still chuckling. The car suddenly stopped, and I looked up and saw that we were at the hospital. Keven checked us in and we went through all the paper work and stuff. I got an x-ray, and what do you know, Raurke was wrong. It was just a sprain, I hadn't broken my ankle. After that, we all drove the rest of the way in silence until we got the hotel. Raurke got out immediately and began to walk towards the hotel.
I was getting ready to get out when Keven grabbed my shoulder and said, "Raurke is a nice boy. He just doesn't know how to show it sometimes, you know?"
I grinned, a hint of a blush on my cheeks, and say, "I can see that in a way, but it still doesn't change the fact that he still pisses me off."
Keven laughed at that and said, "He cares about you a lot, Daisy, you should know that. Just...just give him some time, ok? Little by little he will open up to you, showing you his true side. Oh yeah, and you heard none of this. If he found out I told you that stuff he would kick my gay ass to Timbuktu."
I laughed and said, "Okay, it is our little secret. I promise." With that, I got out of the car and followed Raurke into the hotel. When I came in limping, I was about mauled by Simon and Ali.
"Oh my god, what happened?" Ali yelled, crying. "Where were you, Daisy? I was so worried!"
"Well, I kind of fell off the cliff, and Raurke tried to grab my hand but he fell along with me and then he kind of fell on me and sprained my ankle." The teacher came out all worried and I calmly explained the situation. They called our parents and let them know Raurke and I were safely found. Everyone was so relieved all around. With that whole situation cleared up, we all went to the dining room of the hotel for dinner.
****************
"Okay, let me get this straight. Raurke – was NICE – to you. Is there something wrong with that noggin of yours? Are you thinking straight? Oh no, he totally drugged you, didn't he? Or he blackmail you to say that?" Ali questioned me outside the dining room, waiting for everyone else to finish up.
"No, he didn't," I said, exasperated. "If you people actually got to know him, you would see threw his façade. He is kind and considerate, though annoying, but he is not a bad boy at all, really.
