The Lynx and The Kitten

Ash,

Today, I walked past a pet shop in Osaka, and I saw a beautiful cat perched on the ledge of a high balcony. He had calico fur with subtle, white marks around his eyes and paws and he had his eyes tightly shut as he had turned himself to face the sun. It made me nervous to see such a small animal up so high; he could have fallen at any moment. People say that cats have nine lives, if that is true then I suppose they ought to act like invincible little children, unafraid and daring the universe to hurt them. That small cat made me think of you, Ash. Because you are so fragile and afraid, but you act as though you are immortal. I wonder if you also have nine lives like a Lynx, maybe that is the reason you are so confident in everything that you do. I admire you very much, Ash. I admire your bravery, your intelligence and your calm demeanour. But even when I know that you are strong, often all I want is to cradle you inside my arms like a small animal. I want you to cry with me and tell me all your problems, tell me what is on your mind and tell me how you need me, like you did all of those years ago, because I never want you to act as though you are fine around me. I admire the way you act, but I love you. I love it when you are honest with me and you are just you, instead of Ash Lynx, you are just Aslan-my Ash. So, if something is bothering you, if something is making you upset or if something worries you, you should come to me and you should tell me. You should always tell me how you are really feeling, and you must never act like a predatory, vicious Lynx when we are together, because I want you to relax and be happy with me, and I want to take away all of your pain and your problems, so that you never have to display this invincible façade of pure strength and little empathy.
Come to me and tell me your problems, Ash. Let me hold you and feel yourself relax in our embrace. Let me take your pain for you.
