Y/N's POV
I woke up to the sound of things crashing and my parents yelling.
"Good Morning Freya" I said to my ginger cat sleeping next to me. She looked at me in return. She was probably annoyed too.
I sat up and looked at my clock. '5 am? What happened now?' I thought to myself as I put on my f/c slippers and headed downstairs. The yelling was getting louder and louder. I tried my best to make the floorboards creak under me so they would hear me, maybe then they'd stop.
I reached the stairs shortly, still feeling lightheaded from getting up so fast, I took a few steps down and saw my parents were packing everything that was around in our house and yelling at each other in a different language.
Even though I am already 19, they never allowed me to learn the language. Something to do with "being found", I really stopped caring, but I still had that curiosity lingering in my mind.
My mom noticed me standing at the bottom of the stairs, my hair all ruffled and yawning every 2 seconds. Her expression changed in an instant, and my dad just quietly walked out of the room. They always tried to avoid fighting in front of me, but the thin walls of our houses always gave it away.
"Good morning, dear" she said with a big smile. "Better get your suitcase out. We are moving!" She turned around and went looking for my dad, probably to settle the argument.
I would've been shocked. But I wasn't. We have moved for as long as I've remembered. I never had enough time to settle down and find friends. Then again, I never actually learnt how to properly make a friend.
I yawned and ran upstairs to pack. Freya was still sound asleep in my bed. I decided to let her sleep longer while I packed. Freya just watched me with her beautiful eyes as I quickly packed my bags.
I didn't have a lot of stuff. My hobbies were never important to my parents, and they only wanted to keep me safe.
"And that's how I ended up here, in New York," I said as I gave my friend, f/n her coffee.
"You should really get a better job, you look exhausted," f/n said and took a sip.
"I wish I could be something bigger," I told her and looked down.
"Like them?" f/n said and pointed out a picture in a magazine.
I looked at where she was pointing at and didn't hesitate to laugh.
"What am I going to do? Serve them coffee?" I tried to keep my laughs quiet so I wouldn't attract attention.
"You do have powers, though," f/n said, tracing her fingertips over the image.
"Just because I can do this," I said and poked my hand through the table "doesn't mean that I can join the avengers".
"Its a superpower!" f/n shouted.
Some people started looking our way and I started to feel my cheeks getting warmer.
"Even if it was useful, I still wouldn't use it to aid them" I stood up.
"Why not?" f/n tilted her head.
"They aren't worth it" I walked away.
'I don't understand why people like them in the first place' I huffed and got back to work.
TIME SKIP
I unlocked the door to my apartment. It has been 4 years since I last saw my parents. They just vanished out of existence, not a single trace. I couldn't believe that they were gone.
As I walked into my appartment, I felt like I wasn't the only one in the room. I tiptoed into my living room and I instantly felt something move.
I could see a figure sitting on my couch.
"Who are you?" I said as I started to slowly search my bag for a knife. I couldn't see any of the features of the figure.
"Please do not touch any weapons," a strong yet familiar voice replied.
I stopped dead in my tracks.
"D-dad?" A small whimper escaped my mouth. Was it really him? After all of these years?
"Hello y/n" He said as he turned on the lights with his magic.
It was fairly normal for him to use magic, he was from a different realm. Unfortunately, he never told me from which exactly. I had my speculations, but now I just wanted to know where he went and where my mother was.
He stood up from the couch while I was deep in thought and gave me a warm hug.
I didn't hesitate and hugged him back tightly.
"I have a mission for you," he said and let me go.
Great... He wasn't here to comfort me. He was here to use his daughter for some stupid mission.
"But I haven't trained in a while, plus my condition has been getting worse."
Condition, well, that's what we call it. Scientifically, it's basically just your atoms being unstable to the point that you can walk through solid objects. It's fine most of the time, but for the past year, I've been phasing in and out constantly without controlling it.
"I have a good friend who will help you with that," he smiled. "His name is Doctor Stephen Strange."
'I heard that name before somewhere...' I thought to myself.
"So what's my mission?" I questioned him. Yes, I was nervous and very, very, very nervous. I haven't killed anyone in 6 years, but I know that it wouldn't be a problem to me.
"I need you to kill one of the avengers," he said sternly.
Avengers? Those scum bags? Would kill all of them just to get f/n parents back. They died because of them.
"Thor to be exact." he sounded serious.
'He's a god. Can you even kill a god?' My head started to spin with questions, and I blanked out.
