Chapter 23: Surfing and Jealousy~

Austin, Zach, Alex, Robert, Taylor, Marisa, Paige, and i are all hanging out by the pool in the backyard. Right now the girls and i are working on our tans. Mama comes out with some snacks.
"Ya'll should get out today. Do something." She says.
"What are we gonna do Mom?" Austin asks.
"I don't know. Theres lots of things to do I'm sure you can think of something." She goes inside.
We all stay silent for a minute.
"Ooooo!" Taylor says all of a sudden, making all of us jump a bit.
"What?" Robert asks.
"We should go learn how to surf!!" She suggests.
"Oh my gosh! Yes! We've been here all this time how come we didn't think about this earlier." I exclaim.
Taylor shrugs.
"What are we waiting for?! Everyone get changed!" I say.
We all get swimsuits on. I wear a strapless bright turquoise bikini that has ruffles on the top part. I put my hair in a side braid and then i put on shorts over my swimsuit. After I'm done i go out into the living room to wait for everyone else. Soon everyone is ready to go and we drive down to the beach.
"Who do we ask for surf lessons?" I ask everyone, as if they would know, once we get there.
"You want to learn how to surf?" I hear someone ask.
We all look over to see a boy about our age, maybe a year or two older.
"Yeah. Do you know anyone who could teach us?" I ask.
"Yes i do." He says.
"Oh great! Who?" I ask.
"Your looking at him." He says.
"Oh your the surf lesson teacher?" I ask.
"Yes, i am."
"Great! You think you can handle all of us?"
He just smiles.
"Im Miles." He says.
"Im Sadie, this is Austin, Alex, Zach, Robert, Paige, Marisa, and Taylor." I say introducing everyone.
"Cool! So you guys just go get boards and then come back to me." He says.
So we all grab rental surf boards then head back to Miles, standing near the ocean.
"Okay so everyone lay their boards on the sand."
We all follow his instructions.
"We're just going to work on standing up as fast as we can."
Miles explains how we are supposed to get up.
"Now everyone do exactly what i said a few times."
We all practice standing up.
"Great! Now we can actually get in the water. But first everyone wrap their ankle straps around their ankles." He says.
We all do so and then head into the ocean.
Miles has us practice standing up with our boards still in the water first. Everyone gets it but me. I just don't have good balance.
"Sadie you are terrible." Austin states.
"Thanks Austin, for stating the obvious." I say looking at him.
He chuckles.
"Sadie, do you need help?" Miles asks.
"That would be nice." I say.
He swims his board next to mine. First he stands up.
"Okay stand up like we practiced before but stand up slower. No need to rush to get up just yet." He says.
I nod. I slowly start to stand up but as soon as i do i start to fall forward. I fall into Miles and he steadies me. Realizing what position I'm in with him i quickly stand up. I clear my throat.
"Sorry." I say.
"You're fine." He says with a smile.
I glance at Austin and see a hint of anger in his expression. Somebodies jealous.
"Uhhh, how about we all go get some smoothies and take a quick break? Is that okay Miles?" I ask.
"Yeah, totally fine. I'll just be doing a little surfing while you guys are doing that." He says.
I nod.
All of us get out and go to the smoothie shack thats right on the beach.
"Jealous much?" I ask Austin as we are walking to the shack.
"I am not." He defends.
"Oh really? So it didn't bother you when he put his hands on my waist?" I ask.
"He what?!" He exclaims.
I raise and eyebrow at him.
"Okay fine, I'm jealous." He says.
"Well stop it! You're my boyfriend, not him." I say.
"But the way he looks at you-"
"Austin!"
He closes his mouth and i pull him to the side.
"So maybe he thinks I'm cute, i could care less! Seriously cut this jealousy thing out, its not like I'm going to fall for another guy when Im in love with you." I say.
He steps closer, closing the gap between us, and kisses me.
"Im sorry." He says after we pull away.
"Its okay. I just don't understand why you get jealous. You're not going to lose me." I say.
He bites his lip.
"Austin?"
"Im already losing you." He says softly.
"Don't go there. We still have a while. Remember we said we weren't going to focus on that."
"Its hard not to."
"Austin." I say.
"Alright, lets go get smoothies." He says dropping the subject.
He turns around and goes to the smoothie bar. I stand there for a minute, then i follow him.
"You two okay?" Taylor asks.
"Fine." Austin and i say in unison.
I tell the person behind the bar what i want then wait for it.
"Im sorry." Austin whispers behind me.
He wraps his arms around my chest. I lay my head back on him.
"I love you." Is all i say.
"Love you too, Sade."
Soon we all get our smoothies and drink them up. Then we head back to Miles. After another hour of learning to surf we're all ready to stop for the day.
"Thanks for helping us Miles." I say.
"No problem! Maybe i'll see you guys around."
I nod. Then we all head to lunch. After lunch we head back home. I go to my room and take a shower then change into some black nike shorts and a t-shirt. Theres a knock on the door.
"Yeah, come in." I say.
Austin comes through the door and shuts it behind him.
"Im sorry about before." He says.
"Its okay Austin. We just cant think about me leaving. Its not going to happen for a while." I say.
"I know." He says, bringing me into a hug.
Theres another knock on my door and Dad comes in.
"Hey honey. Its time."
My dad and Heather are going back to Texas today and Mama and i are taking them to the airport. We get there and i hug them goodbye.
"Are you ever going to come home before you go to college?" Dad asks.
"Of course Dad." I say.
"Good. Even though i have Heather its still weird without you there." He says.
I smile.
"I'll be back before you know it." I say.
He smiles and kisses my forehead.
"Bye. Love you." He says.
"Love you too, Dad."
Then they both get on the plane. Mama and i get back in the car and head home.
"Are you and Austin okay?" She asks.
"Yeah we're fine, why?" I ask.
"You two just haven't seemed as happy lately."
"We're fine Mama, theres no need to worry." I say.
"You would tell me if there was something wrong right?" She asks.
"Of course Mama!" I say.
"Okay."
We get back to the house everyone is in there rooms, i decide I'm going to make dinner for everyone. And i decide its going to be breakfast for dinner. So i make pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, and eggs. Im working on the bacon when Austin walks.
"What are you doing?" He asks.
"Making dinner." I say.
"Why?" He asks.
"Because i felt like being nice. Would you rather have no dinner at all?" I ask.
"No." He says.
"Then be appreciative."
"I am..." He says wrapping his arms around me.
"Mmmhm." I say.
He turns my face to his and leans in and kisses me.
"Thank you." He says.
"Yeah yeah." I say with a smile.
Soon im done making breakfast for dinner and call everyone to the table.
"Thank you Sadie, this was very nice of you." Mama says, taking a plate.
"Thank you Saide." Alex, Zach, and Robert all say at the same time.
I smile.
"You're welcome."
So we all sit down and eat. Seeing everyone at the table like this makes me realize its not just Austin I'm going to miss, I'm going to miss everyone. Ive pretty much grown up with all of them. Its going to be hard, but its not like i'll never see them again, right?
