Henry
I had to think of something to salvage the evening. It had started so well. My Little Fawn was right, I had no excuse for the lack of control I had shown as she had still been wearing enough silver to stop the Pull. I had nothing to blame except me.
I was frustrated by her. I'd never had to work so hard for a human in my life. I've seduced thousands of humans, even some who wore silver in their ears or on their fingers. I knew she desired me, but none of my flirtations worked on her.
Was it because she knew that her life was irrevocably different if she gave in? Perhaps. Perhaps she needed an idea of what life would be like with me. Show her what I enjoy, what I like to do. The problem with that was, most of what I liked to do would be irrelevant once we were together. I would still train for fighting, but my hunting days would be over.
Furthermore, it looks like once our 'honeymoon' period is finished, a lot of what I would be involved in is political. I had spent most of my life perfecting my talents and seducing humans. It feels like that was all for nothing now.
What am I good at that a human would appreciate and doesn't involve seduction? "I'm good at card games." Games of any kind were challenging for Vampires since we could read minds. Part of being a good player when you're a vampire was having the well-trained ability to block your thoughts. Since she was wearing silver, we didn't have to worry about that, so it would be a fair match.
"Card games?" One side of her mouth lifted in amusement.
"Yes," I said, returning her smile. "Shall we play?"
"I'm not good at cards. I think I can play gin that's it."
"Good, let's play that then."
She was right, she wasn't very good. She took a long time deciding what cards to play for and what to put down. Her lips fascinated me as we played and told me everything about her decisions. She pouted when she was losing, she bit her lip when she was unsure, she licked her lips when she thought she was winning. For hours we played, and all I could think about were the rosy, swollen verges of her warm and inviting mouth. She laughed when she beat me, and I may have lost a few hands on purpose, just to hear her gleeful, silvery joy sing in my ears.
She got better as we played, but I could sometimes tell her concentration slipped, and I would find her staring at me. When I caught her, I would smile at her, and she would blush and turn away.
Eventually, she started yawning. "Have you had enough, Little Fawn?" I asked.
"Yeah, I should probably get to bed."
I didn't want her to go just yet, I enjoyed her company too much. It seemed she did too, as she was not giving any indication that she would retire. I searched the room for a reason for her to stay. "Would you like me to build you a fire, and we can sit for a while," I asked.
"Can you read my mind?" She asked suddenly.
"Not when you are wearing silver," I said honestly.
"So in the bathroom earlier, you knew what I was thinking?" She asked timidly.
I tried not to recall the memories, but they came anyway. I pushed them aside as much as possible, not wanting my awakening Lust to ruin this moment. My voice was rough as I replied, "Yes."
Still blushing, she said, "I guess I was wrong. You have a lot of control."
I laughed then, "You have no idea, Little Fawn. Even with the silver blocking the Pull, I want you so very badly. Sometimes, it hurts."
