Henry

Quickly, I moved my hands to stop Fawn from removing her necklace. "What brought this on?" I asked as I held her arms, stopping her from taking her necklace off. Her jaw dropped surprised and she seemed a little humiliated.

I don't know what came over me either, my Little Fawn offered herself to me and I refused. Had I not tortured myself with dreams of this very moment? Agonized that I may never taste her ichor, her vital fluid. I knew why I had blocked her, I needed to be sure, so very sure. Once I tasted her I wouldn't stop, and I would not take her against her will.

"I have been thinking and I realised I had no reason to deny you. Charlie is safe with his father, I've gotten to know you, you aren't a crazy person despite being a Vampire." Fawn paused, licking her lips and taking a deep breath, "and I realised the feelings I had towards you are real." Her hands held the necklace, and her breasts strained against the silk she wore, her nipples poked against the delicate fabric. It would not be hard to get her to drop her arms, let the silver fall, rip the clothes she wore for me from her nubile body and claim her. I was so hard and thirsty.

"You don't know how much it means to hear you say that Little Fawn." I sighed, knowing that I couldn't let her submit to me until we spoke about the future. I needed her to know exactly what she would be getting herself into. I knew we should have spoken of this earlier, but I had been too focused on getting her to agree to mate, I hadn't thought about the cost the commitment would be for her. If she was to be my mate, she would be my confidante, my advisor in matters of the state and she would be walking into the most turbulent time in Vampire society in 800 years. "We need to talk about some other things first."

"Yes?" She said, unsure.

"The political situation is only going to get worse. I've just found out my uncle is back. Things are coming to a head with my father. It looks like conflict will be unavoidable. There will be an uprising. Are you strong enough to be by my side through it?"

She thought a while then in a quiet voice she asked, "Are you strong enough without me?"

For a moment I thought I would cry, her concern touched me, gripped my heart. "No. No, I am not." I told her honestly.

"Then I'm with you, Henry," she said. Her voice held no doubt. I wanted to celebrate, dance, sing, she made me so happy. She was so courageous, yet, I consistently doubted that quality in her. I vowed not to forget or underestimate her strength again.

"There's something else. Alex offered an alliance. I would like to see where that goes, but I want your permission first seeing as you have history."

She seemed taken aback by that. "You're the prince, why would you need my permission?"

"I do not intend to rule alone, Little Fawn. I intend on having you by my side, the one whose opinion matters most. You are the person I trust most in the world. Your opinion and approval matter to me above all else."

"Henry," She said almost dropping her arms. She stopped and said, "It seems Alex is already involved with a low-level war with his uncle. He needs an alliance with you probably as much as you need him. Together you will both be stronger." She spoke confidently in a way that she had thought about an alliance before.

I nodded in agreement. Proud of her taking the step into my world I praised her, "That's what I would think, well done Little Fawn."

"Henry, will we go back to court after I'm turned?" She asked.

"Yes, I will need to present you to the people and my Father to prove that we are mated. I will also need the time to gather support. We have a lot, and you would be useful in cementing support from the women."
