The Crash

As I looked behind me a boy who I have never seen before smiled at me. He tilted his head a little he had this smile I will never forget as I tried to bring myself to answer. I couldn't find the words it felt like my mouth had been stitched shut.

"Are you okay? I saw you fall from chasing some lunatic screaming something about being a fairy. Is she on drugs or something?"

He then had this look on his face like he thought he had said something wrong but to my surprise I replied:

"She's a friend, her name is Sadie. She is under this thing about having magical fairy powers. I don't know if she's on drugs. She always seems to act like that for some reason."

"Oh. That's cool. According to her screaming I thought her name was AHHHH DON'T EAT THE FAIRY."

He is trying not to laugh at his own joke I smiled and lifted myself off the floor and wiped the dirt off my pant legs.

"Thanks for helping me. If you excuse me I have a certain girl with fairy powers to kill."

I waved goodbye to the mystery boy, turned around, and continued on my viscous wolf hunt after Sadie. I finally found her in the cafeteria giggling and smiling at me like she heard a funny joke or something.

"Sadie thanks to you I tripped and faceplant on the floor. I hope you know  half of the school thinks your on drugs. and I'm so mad I could bite but I won't because that involves energy that I don't want to use at this very moment."

I sat down exhausted from running all the way to the cafeteria. I didn't even care what was for lunch which isn't normal for me. Sadie looked at me and said:

"Kat. I'm sorry and I didn't mean it. I just didn't want to be killed. Your my  best friend. How about I go and get you something to eat. Okay?"

I looked at her like you have to be kidding me you think just saying sorry is enough?! I put my head down. I'm starting to get a headache.

Sadie came back with a chicken patty with hot sauce.

She sat down across from me blissfully unaware about my inner wolf just scratching to break loose and maul her on the spot. My stomach and I couldn't resist a good chicken patty with hot sauce. Without saying anything more to Sadie I grabbed my bag and left the cafeteria for Art.

As I was making my way to the art room enjoying the moment of peace and quiet when it was soon ruined by the highly annoying high pitch squeal of Sadie as she is booking it down tell hallway to catch up to me.

She caught up to me and said very loudly:

"Where are you going?!"

I answered with a somewhat snappy tone:

"Art if you must know fairy lips."

Yet again she replied in a high pitched, maybe higher voice:

"Oooooo!"

Right about now I had to fight the temptation to haul off and slap her across the head but as the angel I am (ha ha) I stopped myself from doing such a horrible crime. What kind of friend would that make me? Sadie suddenly jumped up and said:

"OMG. The bell is about to ring and this fairy has gym. I better get my wings moving and go. Have fun at art and I'll see you after this period. Remember we are detention buddies." She smiled and did a jazz hands before walking away.

I was happy when I got the chance o sit down on the stool in art. I plugged my earphones into my phone. I listened to music as I resumed working on a project. The hour seemed to fly by I felt like I just sat down. I realized the bell had rung and everyone was in a huge hurry to pack up and pile out the door like a pack of dogs. I, personally am not in any hurry to leave anytime soon. As a matter of fact I am trying to savior any minute that I'm not in crazy cat lady's room. I unwillingly walked down the hall and turned around the corner when SHE found me.

"Welcome to detention Ms. Kat."

She led me into the room and I was immediately greeted by no other then Sadie. She slammed her hand onto the seat next to her saying as loud as she could:

"Come Kat! Sit next to me my bestie!"

It's not like I had any choice. All of the other seats already had someone's butt planted in them. It seemed like Sadie controlled the seating arrangement keeping the seat next to her the only one in the whole classroom vacant. I swear she makes a huge effort to drive me nuts.

I did my homework but it seemed like the two hours dragged and I could've sworn that a snail could've did a lap around the school faster than how long it took for the detention to get over with. I said my goodbyes to Sadie and rather quickly walked down th hall through the front doors to meet my dad.

After the crazy day I've had I have to admit this is the first time I was happy to see my dad sitting in a blue Ford Explorer waving his arms frantically like a deranged octopus.

"Hi dad." I said giving him a kiss on the cheek as I got in the car.

"Can we go to Starbucks? I am dying for something sugary."

"Sure thing sweetie."

Out of the blue, he pressed a button on the radio and turned the volume up to almost maximum blaring some heavy metal station I've never heard of.

Just when I thought this dude couldn't get any crazier. -_-

As we went through the drive through that every feeling that I thought went away four hours ago suddenly came back making my stomach ache like I was just punched in the gut. I tried to ignore the feeling by sipping on my drink. Just then something inside me just told me to appreciate this very moment like it was my last. I leaned over and hugged my father's arm and told him very sweetly I loved him. Just as those words escaped my mouth I heard a loud screeching sound. I only glanced out the window when a accelerating car suddenly slammed into my door sending our car flying as if it was a feather caught in a summer breeze. I can feel my heart racing in fear as my mind is trying to catch up on what's going on. I heard my father scream in fear calling my name. I felt very light headed at the same time terrified. I said painfully once more

"I love you dad."

My eyes slowly shut. My mind was flooded with darkness.
