,,Uhm- guys? I wanted to talk to you about something..." Sirius said unsure.
He didn't know how his friends would react to his request or what they'd think about him. However, he knew that he wanted to do this and that it was the right think. He could feel it.
The boys, that were just walking around the quidditch pitch to train one last time before the game, stopped in their traces to turn around and face their mate.
,,What's up?" Remus asked smiling softly.
Nervously scratching the back of his neck, he looked down to face the ground, as his cheeks started glowing pink. ,,It's about the bet-"
Suddenly Peter and James started laughing kindly, looking at their flustered friend. However, James was the first to talk, as he saw the confusion on Sirius' face. ,,We already knew that you wanted to break up the bet. We just weren't sure when you'd do it."
The confusion on Sirius face grew even bigger than before. How would they know?, he asked himself. They, for sure, didn't know about about the bet-date he stated, so why would they think about it? Not being able to answer that question, Sirius decided to simply ask. ,,How did you know that's what I wanted to ask?"
,,C'mon, mate. We still acknowledge your behavior around Carrie and you two seem to get more close in the past weeks. So we knew, that you would break it up." Remus explained, as his friend blushed more and more. ,,But- why do you want to break it now, specifically?"
,,Well- uhm, funny story. I was talking to Carrie yesterday and- we made a bet about the quidditch game, as she said that Slytherin could be the winner and of course I said that we would win. And well- if Gryffindor wins, I get to take her out on a date. So uhm- yeah." Sirius stuttered nervously, still facing the ground.
What?! Sirius, most likely, is going on a date with Carrie? Peter, James and Remus were staring at their friend wide-eyed, being surprised by what he just said. They didn't expect him to actually ask Carrie out that fast. And they, most certainly, didn't expect him to do it through a bet. However, it was clever, so she wouldn't really be able to reject him, even if he wanted to.
The three marauders were still looking at him in disbelieve, as James again was the first to break the silence.
,,Well done, Pads. Pretty clever to do it as a bet." he said, patting Sirius' shoulder, as he laid his arm around it.
,,Of course we're breaking up the bet. I never even wanted you to state it, so I'm glad." Remus said smiling.
Peter was still kinda shocked, considering that Sirius had to state a bet to ask out a girl. However, he saw the shy and innocent look on his face and decided to leave it. ,,I'm proud of you, Sirius."
