flower crowns

tommy listened to techno drone on about something with phil and wilbur in the call. he knew that he should be paying attention because all of them were gonna meet up and hangout. he hazily looked at the time, 10:20. he hadn't heard from delilah since they went bowling two days ago.

wilbur couldn't get his mind off of the girl tommy was hanging out with. every time he would bring up the girl affectionately nicknamed "lolly," tommy either ignored him or changed the subject. so why wilbur just brought up delilah was beyond him.

"so tommy, i have a question," wilbur started, playing with the pencil he picked up.

"okay?" tommy answered the male with phil and techno listening.

"who's 'lolly'? and don't even bother ignoring me or change the subject," wilbur warned and tommy sighed.

"she's just a friend from college," lie, well, half lie.

"uh huh," phil and techno looked at tommy on discord. "just a mate from college?"

"just a mate from coll-" his phone rang and he answered, forgetting to mute himself. he moved away from his computer but far enough where his microphone could pick up what he was saying. "hey!... yeah im not busy... you're coming over?... what time?... okay... yeah i'll be outside waiting and ready... okay, bye lolly..."

phil waited until tommy returned to his computer and sat down. "college mates don't call each other unless it's about homework tommy nor do they go over to your house."

"so who's this 'mate'?" techno asked, painfully quoting his british friend. tommy looked at the time, delilah was coming over in an hour.

"i have to go, mums calling me about chores," he lied quickly and left the call. he grabbed some clothes and took a shower. he found his wallet and water bottle, which was next to the bag delilah bought to hold his wallet and other things he might've needed for when he hung out with her.

he quickly scribbled the dates of the hangout and places onto the paper calendar he had taped down onto his desk. 11:15, read the time and he quickly grabbed his stuff, going down the stairs. he grabbed a banana and kissed his mother goodbye, seeing delilahs blue ford pull up.

he walked over to the passengers side and threw his backpack in the backseat. he got in, seeing delilahs hair braided. "what're we doing today?" he asked, seeing how this hangout is different from the others.

"we're going to a field," she smiled, keeping an eye on the road.

"delilah, it's way too early to go star gazing again," he joked, turning off notifications off on his phone. delilah laughed along with him and drove towards the country side. he scrolled through twitter and replied to a few tweets his friends made, but ignored any dms or texts he would've gotten from wilbur or phil.

delilah put on a random playlist and continued to drive, hearing tommy whisper the lyrics to classic by mkto. the familiar exit was in front of delilah, she's taken one other person here before, lex (her other best friend besides tommy).

she pulled into the abandoned parking lot, causing tommy to look up to see the field full of wildflowers. he stared in awe at the field and the female moved out of her truck. tommy followed, helping delilah get the basket from the backseat. the duo put the basket in the middle of the field, grabbing the checkered blanket from inside the picnic basket.

tommy took a box of pizza out from the basket and he raised a brow. delilah smiled and took the coke out of the basket, causing tommy to gasp. delilah laughed and they talked about anything. the black haired female listened to tommy talk about college. and tommy listened to delilah talk about flowers, not realizing how much of a soft spot the female had for planting.

tommy picked a few flowers and started to make flower crowns, one for him and one for her. soon tommy and delilah had photos of each other with wildflower flower crowns ontop of their heads.

their hangout lasted all day and until three am that night, with motherinnit asking when she could meet delilah when tommy came home.
