Yami rolled his head to rest on the back of his throne; meetings with countless Lords speaking of crops or silk traders all bringing in their wares of the banquet that night had worn on him. He had gotten a sense of daily life from the young slave he had questioned on his way to the dinning hall the previous night. He had asked one of the guards outside his door that morning to find him and when his knock came a few moments later, he gained from him all the young boy knew.
Yami even asked him what his name was, but the boy replied he didn’t know. None of the slaves had ever heard of the Pharaoh’s name, they didn’t have the authority to speak it so it wasn’t of importance. Yami huffed and turned away. The one thing he wanted to know the most he couldn’t answer. Well, second most; Yami wondered how Yugi was doing. He was probably enjoying his free body once again, a normal highschooler. But this wasn’t an answer the boy would know.
The meetings were simple enough, accepting incoming deliveries and giving thanks. The hardest part was keeping up appearances. Yami wasn’t used to talking down to people - people bowing, or any way of placing himself above others. In Domino he was treated as an equal, another person.
“My pharaoh, let us go to the temple and give offerings to Horus before we prepare for the banquet.” Yami nodded at Aknadin and stood, following him out the room. Set broke apart from the group and headed down the opposite hallway.
“Where are you headed, Set?” Yami called after the man who turned to bow at him.
“Before I leave, I must check on the state of progress for the banquet. I shall rejoin you at the temple.” Yami nodded and appeared in the front courtyard of the palace where chariots drawn by magnificent white horses waited. The golden gilded vessel was engraved beautifully and sparkled in the rays. Yami swallowed thickly. He didn’t know how to ride a chariot such as this. The entire back was open for him to fall out which he had no doubt he would and had no idea how to steer the beasts. He softly chanted out a few prayers to as many gods he could think of and stepped on.

Somehow he had made it to the temple alive without falling off. If it weren’t for the soldiers escorting him, he would have had no idea where to go. But the sights of the village were exciting. Men, women, and children walked about on the paved roads with merchants selling fruits and vegetables with the smell of sweet meat hovering in the air and a loud babble of street goers rang through the space.
The temple of Horus loomed over them with might and prestige. Depictions of the gods themselves were engraved on the front walls. The tall doorway was framed with carved stone and at the top, a slight overhang and underneath sat the same sun disk aten and cobras that decorated the top of his throne. On either side of the entrance sat Horus in his full animal form; a falcon with the pschent, the double crown, atop his head. A second set sat a bit farther away from them but in a black granite.
Priests from the temple came to welcome them. The king-high priest came forward with a torch and bowed to Yami before turning back to the entrance of the temple. “Come, come in peace, bright eye of Horus, rejuvenate in peace.”
“Receive the Light,” The lower priest said, surrounding Yami and his court.
“He shines like Ra in the double horizon - before him immediately hides the might of Sit; the eye of Horus takes it and brings it to him to replace it.” The King-high priest raised the torch above his head and began walking into the courtyard of the temple as he chanted.
