Before I start this chapter, I just really quickly want to say thank you all so much for reading up to this point. I just hit 1k reads today and I never thought that this story would accomplish that. Thank you so much for reading and know that I really appreciate it. <3

Katara's POV

I exit a large set of double doors with a lot on my mind. It has been an eventful morning and to be honest I'm not even sure what I think or feel anymore. I'm just hoping I can get through this day and then figure this all out.

I know that Zuko can sense that something is wrong with me, whether he already knows exactly what it is or not. I don't want to worry him, but I know that as soon as I start talking to him, everything is going to come out and I want to make sure that I'm ready for when that happens.

Right now, I'm going to look for Sokka, Suki, and Toph. I haven't seen them all morning but I'm sure they are out here. I know that if I find someone that I know and can just make conversation with, I will be able to ignore this overwhelming feeling for now.

After a few minutes of searching, I hear Sokka's voice from a few feet over and from there I am able to quickly find them. Sokka is wearing his regular water tribe attire and he has a crutch under his arm. Suki is nowhere to be seen.

"Hey sis! Over here!" Sokka shouts out as I make my way through the crowd.

I make it to him and wraps his arm around me in a friendly sibling motion. I look around the area some more to see if I can find Toph anywhere. After a few moments of glancing around, I see her making conversation with other Earth benders. It's been a while since I have seen her that happy and relaxed.

"Good news," Sokka starts enthusiastically, pulling me out of my trance, "First off, you remember that airship that we sent off about a month ago? The one with dad on it?" I nod.

"Well when I asked around to see if any fire nation airships had been seen flying around, and I found out that an airship actually landed here late last night. They were going to apprehend the people inside, but then they came out they said they were with the avatar."

"Does that mean dad is here?" I ask him, my mood immediately lifting.

"Supposedly." Sokka replies. "Oh and all of the people who were captured during the invasion, along with a few others, have been released from the Boiling Rock."

That's good too. That means all of the other soldiers that risked their lives for the good of the world are all living freely now. However, I'm too caught up in trying to find my father in the crowd to really dwell on that though.

Sokka leads the way, probably thinking the same thing that I am and we make our way through the crowd. Everyone seems to make a path for us in whichever direction we go which is very nice of them.

It doesn't take long before we reach people who are wearing blue, water nation clothing. Some recognize us and start to point us in a certain direction. After getting through a few more groups of people, we see him.

"Dad!" Sokka shouts out as he hobbles over to him.

Sokka basically falls into his outstretched arms, as I follow suit, relieved that he is okay. Now I know how Zuko felt when he heard that his Uncle was alive and well. I don't really know how to comprehend these feelings. Of course it really is just added to my cup that is already overflowing, but I ignore those thoughts for now.

"I heard what you two did." he says as we break away from him. He is smiling down at us proudly. "I am the proudest father in the world and your mother would be proud too." The thought of my mom brings a nice smile to my face and tears to my eyes.
