Ring!

"Hello, welcome to our bakery. What can I get for you?"

Wooyoung stepped in with both his hands in his pocket while making his way to the cake display. He didn't need to choose, he already had one flavor in mind. "Can I get a slice of this one?" He pointed at the lemon vanilla cake and waited for the girl to take one out. He paid then, and exit the bakery he usually comes once a year for the same reason at the same hour.

"Enjoy your night!" The glass door closed.

The walk to his apartment took at least 30 minutes and by the time he arrived, it's already 10.30 pm. After taking a shower and putting on his sleeping clothes, Wooyoung sauntered to his study desk facing the open window. The cake he bought earlier and a lighter in his palm, he sat down and opened the small box. The candle was lightened up and stuck in the cake. Lemon vanilla cake was never his favorite but someone important to him loved it the most. He never blew the candle and just sat quietly instead. After some time, the chilly wind blew into the room and extinguished the candle.

Wooyoung's eyes lifted from the cake to look outside at the small restaurant near his place, landed on a happy couple laughing while having their drinks. Then, his eyes moved to his calendar hung on the wall next to his window. A red marker circled on that day's date, 15th of June, with a little note read "Our 3rd Anniversary!". Small hearts were drawn around it.

He let out a sigh and blinked his eyes only for a tear to escape and roll down his cheeks. He never made an effort to stop his tears and just let them pour down his face. Silent cries filled the room and his shoulders shook. He lifted his hand to cover his face and mumbled in between his sobs,

"Where are you?"

Wooyoung was awake by the bright sun shining on him. Right, he cried to sleep on his desk with the untouched cake from last night. Shit, his eyes sure looked swollen. He would need to put on more makeup to cover them, it seems. And he's late for his class.

"Wooyung-a!" The said boy looked up right after he closed the door of the classroom and made his way to his best friend. "You're right on time or else you're fucked, dude." Indeed, he was. He kept quiet, his head hung lowly. A heavy sigh was heard next to him and he knew what the next conversation will be about. "It's today, isn't it?"

"Yes, it is, Yeosang," Wooyoung answered flatly, folding his arms on his table to bury his head in it and not in the mood to actually talk. "Fuck the professor, I just wanna sleep." He said, closing his eyes.

A chuckle was heard from his best friend. "Oh, but not Professor Kang. He hates seeing his students sleep in his class. Especially you because he hates your guts, remember?" Wooyoung groaned lowly at how Yeosang is always right. But he's really not feeling like listening to the lectures that day, not when his mind is filled with the person he's been searching for nearly three years.

His boyfriend. Well, his 'lost' boyfriend.

It all started when they were both 17 and 18 years old. They were so, very in love with each other and they were happy having only each other.

"Sweetheart, you shouldn't be sleeping while in class." His lover would whisper to his ear back then. And he would reply, "But I didn't sleep at all last night." He then felt a hand patting his head. "Aww, poor sweetie. Had trouble sleeping, weren't you? I can help with that."

A smile formed on his lips. He missed being called that name by that person and only him.

"Morning, sweetheart."
