They told me to neglect you
but how I yearn they knew the was
more beyond their thoughts
They told me you were worthless
but you were all I needed to be in knowledge of the love you had for me
how being associated with you felt
like a fantasy
They told me how much of a jerk
you were but I defied them because
You conducted yourself around me
They told me it would end with a heartache
In the depths of mind I knew it was true
but I buried the thought because I was expectant of a happy ending
