'If you don't feel comfortable at any moment, just let me know, okay?' James said. Adam nodded. His dad was coming over. He'd been nervous about it, because he had still been scared, but after his realization earlier in the park, he figured, there was nothing to be afraid of. He wasn't scared anymore. The doorbell rang and James went to open it.
'Come in.' He said to Mr. Ortiz as he invited the man into the house. At this point James seemed more nervous than Adam. Sure, the dark haired boy had been really nervous the days leading up to the visit, but he wasn't scared anymore.
'Hey, AJ. How are you doing?' His dad asked a little nervously. Adam smiled. He slowly walked up to his dad and gave him a hug. When he pulled away, he took his notepad.I missed you, dad.
Tears appeared in the corners of Mr. Ortiz's eyes.
'I missed you too, my boy.' He said as he pulled his oldest son into another hug. James smiled too. He was relieved that it was going this well. The doorbell rang again. James opened the door to see Caleb.
'Hi, James. AJ texted me saying dad was coming over. Am I too late?' He asked.
'Depends on what you see as too late.' James replied and he let the other boy in with a smile. Caleb's face lit up when he saw his father and his brother talking on the couch. Or rather, his father was talking and his brother was writing.
'Caleb, what a pleasant surprise.' Mr. Ortiz said as he pulled his youngest son into a quick hug before Caleb sat down on the couch next to them. They all started talking, except Adam, who was writing.
"I should buy him a new notepad soon. I think it's getting pretty close to being full." James thought as he watched the happy Ortiz family. It was so good to see them all happy together. James had been nervous about whether or not Adam would be ready, but everything seemed fine. It was as if Adam had never been scared of anyone at all. Caleb had been right. It was taking time, but Adam was slowly getting back to who he used to be.Adam and James rang the doorbell. They went to the store before coming over to buy extra snacks and a new notepad for Adam. His old one was almost full.
'There you guys are. Come in, Maaz and Becca are already here.' Jaiden said smiling happily as she opened the door. They found Maaz and Rebecca sitting on the couch, waiting for James and Adam to arrive. Everyone was really excited to finally be able to hang out again. Very soon warm chatter filled the room as they were talking (or writing) and telling jokes while playing some video games.
'How about some party games? Anyone up for truth or dare?' Jaiden asked.
'Good idea. Maaz, truth to dare.' Rebecca asked.
'Dare!'
'Go outside and run up and down the street, pretending to be a drunk pig.'
'What does a drunk pig even look like?' Jaiden asked chuckling.
'I don't know, but I'll figure it out.' Maaz replied as he went outside. Everyone was rolling over the floor laughing.
'Okay, Jaiden, truth or dare?' Maaz asked when they all went back inside and sat down again.
'Dare!'
'Eat a spoonful of mustard.'
'Ew, gross!' Jaiden said, but she got up and walked over to the kitchen, returning with mustard and a spoon. They all laughed as she ate it, making weird faces.
'Adam, truth or dare?' Jaiden asked eventually.Truth.
'What was the exact moment you fell in love with James?' Jaiden asked after thinking for a bit. Adam didn't immediately write something down. What was the moment he fell in love with James?
I don't know what the exact moment was I fell in love, but I know that I felt something was different about James when we got stuck in the elevator together. He felt different than everyone else. From that moment on, I started to notice I felt weird around him. I started to have feelings for him.
'Aw, that's so sweet.' Jaiden coed. Adam blushed a little and James grabbed his hand, feeling a little flustered himself.
James, truth or dare?
'Truth.'
What was the moment you fell in love with me?
James didn't immediately reply either.
'When I first saw you, I didn't know what to think of you. I remember you were so lonely and I wanted to befriend you because I knew what it was like to be alone. But then I started noticing that I was always really worried about you. Like, more worried than a friend usually is. After you first opened up in that elevator, I started to have all sorts of weird feelings when I was near you. It honestly took me way longer to realize what it was than it should've.' The blonde said eventually.
He started blushing a little too.
'In that case it's a good thing that elevator got stuck that day.' Maaz pointed out.
'I don't wanna imagine what life would be like if it hadn't.' James said. Adam nervously shook his head and wrapped his arms around James, as if scared that he would suddenly disappear.
'But enough of that. Jaiden, truth ot dare?' The blonde asked. He didn't like thinking about what would've happened if that elevator hadn't gotten stuck. Would he and Adam really never have gotten together? No! That couldn't be! James had already been worried about him before that and surely they would've ended up together in a different way.
'Dare!' Jaiden replied, snapping James out of his thoughts.
'Let Maaz do your makeup.' The blonde replied.
'Oh, come on.' Jaiden complained, but she got up to go get her makeup anyways.
'At least try to make it look good.' She said as she handed her stuff to Maaz.
'Oh, you know I won't.' The Australian boy laughed.A couple minutes later they were all rolling over the floor laughing at Jaiden's ridiculous look when suddenly the lights turned off.
'We must have blown a fuse.' Rebecca said in the darkness.
'I'll go check the fuse box, maybe you guys can go outside and start the campfire so we can make some s'mores.' James replied.
'Sounds like a good idea. The fuse box is in the garage.' Jaiden said. Even in the dark, James had no trouble navigating through Jaiden's house. They had all been at each other's houses so much, all of them knew their way around all of the houses. Or at least the main area's. Once James reached the garage, he was having a harder time getting around without bumping into stuff. He could see the fuse box next to a small window that let in some moonlight from outside. A shiver went down his spine as he tried to make his way through the garage. He didn't like how little he could see and the moonlight was casting creepy shadows everywhere.
'You're just spooking yourself.' The blonde nervously said to himself.
He opened the fuse box, but it was too dark to actually see the switches inside.
'Great.' He sighed sarcastically as he squinted his eyes to try and see the switches. Suddenly he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist, making him jump. When he looked to the side, he saw that it was Adam. The dark haired boy's smile was visible in the moonlight from the window, before he rested his head on the blonde's shoulder.
'Don't sneak up on me like that, Adam. You're gonna give me a heart attack one of these days.' James said, even though he felt a lot less spooked now his boyfriend was here with him. He felt Adam's body shock lightly with silent laughing as a smirk appeared on the dark haired boy's face. James turned back to the fuse box and tried to see what he had to do. Suddenly a bright light shone onto the switches. When he looked up, James saw Adam shining the flashlight of his phone.
"Why didn't I think of that?" The blonde thought.
'Thanks.' He said before turning back to the switches, looking for the odd one out. The were all turned on, except one. He quickly turned it on and outside he saw the garden lights turn on. Since he never used the light switch in the garage, he and Adam stayed in darkness.Just as James was about to close the fuse box, he felt Adam kiss him in his neck. The blonde froze. He didn't wanna move, because he didn't want Adam to stop. He liked it. But then the dark haired boy turned him around and looked deep into his eyes. No matter how long Adam and him would be dating, that look would always make the air leave his lungs. They leaned in closer before pulling each other into a passionate kiss. James parted his lips and Adam let his tongue slip inside the blonde's mouth. After a bit of making out, they pulled away for air. James pulled Adam into an embrace, holding the other boy closely.
'I love you so much, Adam.' He whispered.
'I love you too, Angel.' Adam whispered back.
