The song at the end is by K-Ci and JoJo, it's called All My Life.
A warm feeling swirls around my chest comfortably. It's been so long since I've slept like this. Most nights are completely restless or filled with too many tosses and turns to count.
Warm lips press against my cheek," You slept well, babe?"
Curling up to Suki's side, I hum contently. Gentle hands run through my freshly cut hair, following the pattern of my soft curls.
"Yeah actually. I haven't slept this well in a while."
Her arms wrap around my larger frame, pulling me closer to her body,"I'm glad."
She leans over to place a tender peck against my lips.
"I missed this.", I mumble against her cheek.
Suki hums, rubbing my arm with the palm of her hand.
By today's end, she'll be walking out my apartment door and headed back on her travels. I've learned to savor these moments with her, and memorize everything that happens. Like right now for example, she's relaxed and it make her face appear less sharp at the jaw and round instead of long.
She worries me, always off in battle and saving people's lives. I'm proud of her, I really am, but she doesn't take care of herself. Sokka's with her and I know he'll pressure her to do the right things, but he can't see everything and he's not with her all the time. I appreciate what he does, and his deep care for my girlfriend, but it's not enough.
"Me too, and now that we're on this topic, I have a surprise for you.", the warrior admits with a knowing smirk.
I peek up at her while trying to calm the rapid beating within my chest. Both corners of her lips perk up, molding into a wide grin.
"What is it?", I speak while straining to keep the excitement out of my voice. Ultimately I fail, my own lips curling into a vibrant beam, feeding off of her energy and morphing it to my own.
She taps my nose affectionately," I'm not telling you just yet."
Suki climbs off the other side of my bed and stretches her arms over her head. She groans softly and stretches again before opening up my blinds and heading towards the bathroom.
"You better wake it up ugly, we got a big day ahead of us.", She teases as she closes the bathroom door, locking it behind her.
"Rude.", I mumble to myself with a small frown.
Suki decides she wants to take forever in the bathroom, so I'm left sitting on the couch waiting for her to finish getting ready. My finger tips tap against the armrest, biding my time and listening to my girlfriend hum happily behind the wood door.
She doesn't usually take this long, Suki's a simple girl who likes to dress up from time to time. It's usually a quick in and out, so the fact that she's taking this long probably means she's dressing up for something.
Self conscious of my lazy outfit, I glance down at myself, debating whether I'm dressed appropriately or not.
The bathroom door creaks open, freezing my actions while my heart gives away for a few seconds.
I lift my head from my chest, amazed by my girlfriend's beauty. Turns out I was right, she dressed up a bit, but not in the way I expected.
Light make up decorates her features with enough care to seem elaborate. Of course I've seen her wear heavy make up for her warrior outfit and the bit she wears when she's not suited up, but somehow it feels a bit different. Even the way she's dressed is a bit strange, usually she dresses more on the feminine side, though today she's dressed in something that resembles somewhat of a formal suit.
