"Come on, slowpoke, we're here!" I rushed him, eager to see the city.
"Okay! Okay! We have almost an hour to get to Hope's Peak and explore. You're acting like you've never seen the city before!"
"That's because I haven't!"
"Wait, what? Seriously?"
"Seriously. Dead dad, tight finances, remember? Now let's gooooooo!!"
"Alright, okay! I'm going!"
We made our way off the train, triple-checking we hadn't left anything behind, and made our way out of the train station.
"Ugh, my GPS won't load! I have no idea where the subway is. C'mon, stupid thing, LOAD!!"
With a roll of his eyes, the more city-savvy seeming boy grabbed my hand and began pulling me along the sidewalk. Every turn we took seemed to be more and more random, but his sureness never faltered.
"Hey! Do you even know where we are?" I questioned while being practically dragged along the sidewalk through stop signs, food vendors, and crosswalks.
"Not really, I just kind of have a feeling. Besides, half the fun of a big city is getting lost and enjoying the adventure!" he retorted.
"That's hardly efficient! We're on a schedule you know!"
"You're the one on the schedule, I just happened to be sitting next to you," he smirked back at me, "ah! I think we're here!"
He finally slowed to a stop in front of a wide set of stairs leading underground with a rumbling noise coming from the tunnel.
"After you," he gestured toward the stairs, grinning at me.
I took the handrail and descended the stairs, the over-confident boy trailing just behind me. We made our way down the stairs, found a map, navigated to the subway platform that would take us on the quickest route to Hope's Peak, took our seats on a nearby bench, and waited for the subway to arrive.
"We're way off schedule because of you, y'know," I glared at him dramatically, "you're too cocky in the city. I liked sleepy train perv better."
"Aww, you wound me, (Y/N)," he put the back of his hand to his forehead, pretending to be sad, "but actually, how do you know your method would've been any faster? You were just standing there waiting for your GPS to load without even taking a minute to look around and enjoy the city. If you'd have done that, you would have noticed the street signs leading directly to the subway," he finished with a teasing wink.
"W-well, how was I supposed to know there'd be signs?! I've never been to a big city like this before, remember?"
"Ah, that is true, but still, out of the both of us, you should've been the one eager to take in the sights, not me!"
"Ugh... I hate when you're right," I pouted at him, unable to come up with any more comebacks.
We didn't have to wait very long for our subway to arrive. It was sort of crowded, so there was only one open seat.
"You can take the seat," I offered.
"No, it's okay. I slept plenty on the train. Plus, you're the one new to the city, so I insist, you take the seat."
"You coulda just said you didn't want the seat," I said teasingly, "I'm the one who got dragged through all those streets within 5 minutes of my first time in the city, anyway."
"You're so selfish, (Y/N)."
"You're exactly correct."
We talked quietly about the city and shared information about Hope's Peak as the subway moved through its stops. After about 10 minutes, we arrived at the correct stop and got off the subway train, making our way out of the station. We explored the city until it was time to make our way to the school. We stopped in front of the magnificent building, taking in the splendor and gathering our courage. At least, that's what I was doing.
