Alex came back to his senses but I was still in shock, trembling as if I saw a horrifying ghost… well it really looks like one. He came running to me and held me in his arms. “Xy, we need to go.. now!” he said. I nodded, not finding the words to speak. Tongue tied. I saw him put things on his red-not-so-worn-out-bag. “Where are we going?” I asked. “You’ll know sooner, now let’s go! Enough with the aftershocks” he said and held my hand, dragging me out of the house.
I took one last look of the tree house. That’s where we first met. So many memories were made there.
We went into the woods, and all that seemed frightening to me was now… peaceful. The sounds the animal made, the gentle swaying of trees, the light that shined on us, and, his hand, entangled to mine. Why can’t we stop this for a minute?
Minutes later, I grew tired of walking and half-running. Can we stop now? And as if on cue, we stopped by a nearby tree, and I sat immediately. “Tired?” he asked. “No, of course not. Why would I?” I answered sarcastically but definitely as a joke and rolled my eyes. We both laugh. “Wait for me. I’ll get something to drink”, he chuckled.
He came back holding a leaf-shaped-into-a-cup with water on it. I drank it right after he gave it to me. “Where did you get such fresh water from?” I asked while drinking. I know that obviously it’s from a river; I just wanted to break the silence between the both of us. “Actually… that’s from a deer… it’s pee” he answered and immediately I splattered the drink on his face… accidentally. “What?!” I exclaimed. “Nah, just kidding. Actually it’s from the river over there. Fresh, eh?” he smirked then chuckled. “I hate you”, I said. “Don’t worry, I hate you more! Now let’s go! Enough with the drama” he said, while laughing. I ran up to him and we started walking… again.
“Seriously, where are we going?” I asked.
“Here we go again”, he jokingly rolled his eyes.
“Just tell me” I added and pretended to be serious.
“Somewhere safe. Somewhere I’ll teach you how to fight” he said
“Wait, what? Though,,, that’s pretty cool”, I said with a smile.
“Xy, I’m serious, you need to learn how, you need to be safe” he said and indeed he was serious.
“Oooh... someone’s concerned” I joked and playfully punched his arm.
“Hey, you’re my friend! Your Personal Knight signing in…” Friends? Well, that’s all he said and we laughed together.
“I’m tired”, I pouted.
“I’ve got an idea”, he said. He went behind the bushes and within a few moments, he came back, changed into a wolf. Cool. I wish I could do that. He went right beside me and huffed. “Hop on” he said telepathically. And with a smile I climbed on his back and we went dashing through the forest.
“We’re going to Granny’s”, he said.
