ALEXANDER

I went out to fetch her some water and to think more of what’s happening nowadays.

I went to the woods.

I met (or saved) a girl.

I took her home.

I’ve been acting all strange since then.

Now we’re so close to each other.

I started filling the bucket with water.

Why does she look so familiar? Like I’ve known her for years.

Have I already met her before?

And then…

“Ah!!!”, I shouted and everything went dark.

I hear the chirping of the birds and as I stand, I realized that I’m in the middle of the..woods? I mean not the one near my house but a different but familiar one. I walked slightly to recover from my dizziness. And just like that, I heard two kids laughing. I could’ve ran to them but I decided to hide first for now and just listen to them. Weird. Well, the boy was whispering something to the girl but I couldn’t make out what they’re really talking about. He pulled out a flower and gave it to the girl. I grabbed a closer look and I couldn’t believe my eyes. She looks like Xyrene. She is Xyrene! And when I looked at the boy, he actually looks a lot like me, it was me when I was younger! He started to sing and the words kept on playing in my mind.

♪ When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart
And when she was sad, I was there to dry her tears
And when she was happy, so was I, when she loved me.

Everything flashed before my eyes, the way we threw snowballs at each other during winter, the way we jumped at and played with the leaves during autumn, the way we flew kites and ran during summer and the way we were so happy during spring- throughout the years.

♪ Through the summer and the fall, we had each other, that was all
Just she and I together, like it was meant to be
And when she was lonely, I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me

I knew it! All this time, how could I not realize that it was her? She was my best friend, my long-lost friend whom I loved so much. I better tell her this.

I hadn’t realize that I left the bucket spilling with water as I run back home. But something stopped me as I was about to turn the knob. I stepped on something, a paper in front of the door. I opened and read it first.

Alexander,

The last of whom holds the blood of the Philines.

Your blood will finally quench our thirst.

Your death is our victory.

We say unto you,  everything you cherish,

Everything you’ll ever love

We will take them away from you.

I can’t let them do anything to Xyrene, I won’t. I let the anger rush through me as I clenched my teeth and crushed the paper in my hands.
